The Vietnameses are treated very bad in Texas. The above young girl is only one example for the racism in this area.

No law in American allows to put this young girl to jail. So, please do not say that the US is the country of freedom and civil rights. The freedom and civil rights only belongs to the rich people who can hire attorneys to help them.

Look at this link, you will see another case, which affect the whole Vietnamese community:

"A village called Versailles" .I couldnot keep my tears when I watched this film.

And this is the civil rights and freedom in the US:

Yes, there is a law. It's called habitual truancy. Most states require all children under the age of 18 to attend school unless they've already graduated.

Even if the judge applied that law, he also is a racist. She was exhausted and needed a rest. Texas is the state of racist, especially on Vietnameses.

Dunno. I don't know many people from Texas, but the ones I do know don't seem to be racist. My mom is originally from Texas, and she loves my wife and step-kids.

I'm sorry the Caucasian American men in here. I means the racist for generally. If you watch the whole film "The village called Versailles," then you will understand my feelings. My husband is Caucasian man like you, Anh Map, but I know that except him, no others could respect me and support me as a normal person in the US. I face a lot of racism attitude in study, works, and life. Not all Americans are racist; however, there are racists here, in the US.

Not all Americans like the Vietnamese wives who enter the US by fiance and marriage visas. They even want to check my attitude and point of view after I got American Citizenship. They want to see me to make a divorce and kick my husband out of our house. Is that racist?

Yup Yup - and it is ON the books in Texas.

So, sorry OP - she could have made prior arrangements with the school, but she didn't. My son was out a lot for acting and performance gigs, for example - and he was way past the limit each year, but he didn't go to jail. WHY? His mother and I made prior arrangements with the school. Part of that prior arrangement was to make sure there was a SAG-approved and certified teacher on the set or travelling with him if it was a daily or a weeks worth of performace.

But that's just one example. There are others, for children of farmers, for example. Prior arrangements are made, always.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

There are Racists allover the world.. I have run into quite a few in VN... as well as other countries I have visited... Texas is not a Racist state... I have many great friends there ... and none of them are Racists... I know for sure that neither Curtis nor Dai are racists....

If you are feeling like everyone around you is a racist and or judging you because you are from VN, you may want to talk to David about it and seek some counseling to address this issue.

At first, I did not think about the concept of racist when I arrived the US. However, when I study in school and go to work, I faced many cases that changed my mind. Even my American classmates in school share with me their ideas about the racism in the US and remind me that I should be careful.

Maybe, if you are the white man, you cannot feel it, but the black students told me their stories and lives.

David and I live in a small house at WA with good neighborhood. I like them. However, out of home and neighborhood, I faced many obstacles in works and jobs that David has to agree with me that there are racists around us. Usually, I have David involved to help me. If I try to solve the problem by myself, it did not work. Counselor cannot help me in this problem, just costs money.

The best way is I try to get help from the people who want to help me and avoid to contact to the racist people.

I have been the victim of racial discrimination by individuals as well as the US government. And yes I am a white man... Please don't think that just because someone is a white man that they can't be the victim of racism. I was denied a job working for he US Government because I was not a member of a minority.. that is racial discrimination... So many times people have said very impolite things to my wife and I in VN due to my race... it happens everywhere but I am not saying VN is a racist country. I know alot of people who live in Washington state that don't consider most of thier neighbors to be racists.... it could be just a matter of misperception that you feel there are so many racists around you....

The judge in Texas was not a racist.. he just made a really bd decision and since corrected the mistake...
