Moving Back to Canada for a US job prior to the 2yrs?

Ok,so I may have an amazing opportunity with a US based company but they want to station me in Ottawa, Ontario by approx. Nov 2012. The issue that I can foresee is that I can only file for the I751 after Dec 15, 2012. IF I move to Canada in November working for a US company do I lose my ability to file for my 10yr green card? It is possible that after a few years I would move back into the USA working for the same company and even if not after all this hard work I do not want to disqualify myself in case we want to move back to the States down the road....I would hate to do this all over again.

No you still have to file for your ROC on time. Your card stays the same your status stays the same your about to expire.

BUT it does affect your ability to apply for US citizenship and it will affect your GC / LPR status. You cant live outside the USA on the green card - it is for living in the USA only.

You will have to apply for a re-entry permit if you intend to be outside of the USA as long as you say you will.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Not true. Beyond 6 months will be heavily scrutinized though.

OP, I am assuming you are not working for the US government. You will need a re-entry permit. You will need to maintain your US residency, file taxes, etc. Even then, it's possible you will lose your green card. I'd roll the dice with the reentry permit if you only plan to be out 1-2 years. Beyond 2 years, you won't be able to get another reentry permit and your GC will be abandoned.
