It is not a person's right to interfere with the well being of a child or to hinder it in any way. It doesn't matter that it was her child. You are indirectly saying that a parent has the right to murder a child, and you know that's not correct. There's a reason people get charged for child neglect. Because it's wrong, and it's illegal. To neglect the needs of a child, for whatever reason, is not okay simply because you are the parent. Your responsibilities as a human being don't suddenly disappear just because it happens to be your offspring. She was in the wrong, she caused the death of her child. Perhaps not intentionally, but it's still something that SHOULD be punished.

I don't get to slap around my kids because I want to or because it's my 'right as a parent' to do whatever I'd like. I don't get to starve my children because God's word should be enough nourishment for them. I don't get to keep my children in a cage because I feel that it will make them more appreciative, God loving adults. You can go on and on about the 'rights' this mother had, but let's not pretend she has the right to cause the death of her child.

I know this is hard, but go re-read my post and try again. Reading comprehension is not obviously your strongest of abilities, but I'm sure if you try real hard you'll get it. Try understanding what a "right" is.

How did I know that this is the kind of response I'd get? Typical.

You don't have a right to medically neglect your child. Clearly you are the party failing to understand what a 'right' is.

Sure you do. She did and the kid is dead. You can punish her for what you don't like, but that didn't stop her from doing it.

Punish her for 'what I don't like...' Do you mean prosecute her for criminal neglect of her child causing death?

Where do you get your position criminal neglect of a child causing death is a right from? Plenty of murderers wish the legal standard was 'oops, you already committed the murder, guess there is nothing we can do now, carry on!'

laws and crimes are moral attributes decided by the collective in society. That doesn't however stop things from happening, nor does it stop an individual from acting on his/her own free will.

Your mistake is thinking just because it's a law that it's not a right. Something that's not a right means you can stop it from happening. You can't stop another random human being from doing anything. You cannot like it and you can punish them as I said, but you can't stop them from their original action, or multiple original actions.

I direct these words back at you as you seem to be most in need of them yourself! I doubt it will do any good but I thought I would try. :bonk:

If you try really hard you might be able eventually to figure out there is a difference between having the ability to do something and the legal right to do it! :bonk:

quit doing the legal dance, I asked YOU a moral question and you answered "yes" it was up to this mother to decide ...up until this same child was born.

You get props for your honest.... but not for your moral compass.

I am crushed that I don't get the 'dannologic' props! :crying: ....................

Those who would take away someone else's right to make their own moral decisions are the worst of tyrants! Whether it is muslim sharia law or the dictates of the pope in Rome, we are supposed to be, based on what our founding fathers put in our constitution, free of governments heavy hand of coercion when it comes to questions that concern only religion/morality.

In my book it is you and those like yourself that have the hubris to suggest that they have a right to make those decisions for others that have their moral compass askew!

If every act a human is capable of was a protected 'right' we wouldn't have a society, only mayhem and chaos. My hat is off to Paul. I always think one crazy comment of his is as crazy as it gets, yet he continues to outdo himself.

This thread is a corker! Criminal Neglect leading to the death of a nine year old is a protected 'right!?!' a friggen mazing!

Again, your comprehension is lacking. I never said it's "protected" -- Your "rights" in society are not rights. They are temporary (as Carlin likes to put it) privileges that everyone else around you allows you to have.

You can't stop anyone from robbing a store. You can't stop a mother from neglecting her child. You can't stop someone from killing another. You can't stop anyone from doing anything that they want to do of their own free will. As I said, you can attempt to 'punish' them after the fact, but that there again is what you/we as a society choose to do to someone who does something we do not like.

Laws of nature supersede the laws of man. Man may write his own laws, but he does not control the actions that come before they may be applied.
