What will happen next? Someone mentioned a new form of filing electronically? How long is average wait from NVC to Embassy?

Gosh I am so happy and full of questions. I am going to call hubby back now hopefully his poor eardrums have recovered from my screams. Alhumdollah.

Firstly, Congrats,:dance: Secondly, which was approved?? the K3?, or the CR-1? Mostly they are apporved at same time, both then sent to the NVC, the K3 most of the time dies there, AND OR is put in AP hell there, and that is the BEST time to follow the CR1. The CR-1 is sent to the NVC same time as the K3, FOLLOW the CR-1. After you completed the NVC stage IF you follow the CR-1 which I stronly recommend, (the K3 is not worth it, cost lot's more once he is here, you have to Adjust his status before he can work, drive or even get a S.S. card, so consider it carefully.) The CR1 will only take as long as it takes to get through the NVC, so its much worth maybe 30 extra days. Trust me!!!

Best wishes on your journey......

Hi,

Thanks for the input. But what is the CR1? I am not familiar with that, but would love to know more if you can explain it.

Thanks,

Tamz

The CR-1 is a visa for couples who have been married less than 2 years. Upon approval, it grants the foreign spouse a 2-year conditional green card with full legal rights to work, travel, etc., without having to do AOS as with the K-3 visa.

There is a blue bar at the top of this page (right under the VisaJourney logo.) Click on "Guides." You will see a full description of both the CR-1 and the K-3, so that you can compare.

Basically, the CR-1 is a much better visa, and costs less in the end. The K-3 was created as a way for foreign spouses to come to the U.S. while waiting out much of the processing, but that was at a time when the CR-1 process was taking much longer.

You filed a I-130 form right? well that is for a CR-1 visa or a IR-1 visa, the difference is based on the years you have been married as wife of mahmoud mentioned in her posting. The K3 is filed AFTER the I-130, usually on a after thought thinking it will get him or her here soon, and it does, maybe by 1 month, and as mentioned once they are here, it costs more monies to asjust their status.

Follow the CR-1, drop the K3, but it will most likely die at the NVC or be put into AP hell........
