Hi,

my wife has a J2 and applied for a EAD using I-765. She received a notice of action with a request for evidence asking the following questions:

1. Submit a complete statement explaining why the J-1 principal is unable to fund the anticipated activities.

2. Provide a detailed statement regarding how the j-1 principal's exchange program is funded and provide the amount of money the principal receives per month. Also, submit a detailed monthly breakdown of costs including housing, subsistence, childcare, etc

3.Provide copies of bank statements upon entry in the US and any other documentation showing additional monies that are available to you.

Has anybody experience with this? Is the J1-principal really required to fund all activities for the J2? Although I earn enough to support the three of us, my wife wants to do some travelling wherefore she wants to earn her own money. Is travelling an acceptable reason? How many details should we provide? Is there anything we need to take into account? We are really worried that the EAD might not be granted. thanks for your help!

As it stated, her income would solely be to support you, not her traveling. So it would not be approved unless you could prove you need that income to continue your J-1
