Hello, I am going back to the states to file my 13a Permanent Resident Visa so that I can file my I-130 in the embassy in the philippines because it is much quicker this way. I found that trying to file for a 13a here in the Philippines is very tedious and takes a long time and you only get a probationary visa instead of a permanent visa, but if you get it in the states you get the full permanent visa right away.

I got married in the Philippines in March this year. I have all the requirements for it. I just wanted to ask, what is your experience in this at the philippine embassy? How long did it take and do you have an tips for someone who is going to be doing this. Any information at all would be helpful.

Thank you so much!!

Congratulations on your marriage. How long have you lived in the Philippines for? As you may know, to file DCF you have to be able to prove that you've lived in the Philippines for at least 6 months. I would imagine that this is most easily accomplished by showing a rental agreement for your apartment, school records, job offer/contract, etc., and your ACR-I card. I'm not sure I see any advantage for you to fly back to the states and get your 13a there unless you have a lot of money and you don't mind paying for multiple plane tickets. I would suggest just getting your probationary 13a here. It takes less than a month to get, and there are really no major benefits in having a permanent 13a as opposed to a probationary one, especially for a person who plans to move back to the US. You can file DCF with a probationary 13a. It is very easy to do the 13a here in the Phils, trust me.

If you don't have all your documents ready yet, get on it. You'll need that NSO copy of your marriage cert, birth certificates for you and your spouse, divorce decrees, etc, etc. Do you have a job in the US; pension, etc.? If you don't then you're probably going to need a co-sponsor like mom/dad, bro/sis. If you'd like to provide some additonal details about your situation I'd be glad to help. Best of luck to you and don't let the process intimidate you.

I agree with Bron.. I did my 13a in Cebu and I walked in, had everything put together properly, applied for it, and they gave us our interview the same day because we live very far from EVERYWHERE. Its so easy. The atty told us to look on the website 2 months from the interview or call to check the status of the visa and I got a phone call like 3 weeks later from Cebu telling me I was approved. Everyone told me i was really lucky and were shocked I got it all done in one day, but I just did my research beforehand as was well prepared..

Hey everyone, i'm just signed up for VJC website because I was inquiring sooo much information about Fiance Visa. As I go on with my research, I found details to DCF which then I came across this website into the forums. I'm really hearing alot of good things about DCF.

I'm a student nursing here in Manila, for 3 years now, been with my boyfriend for 2 yrs. K-1 visa is out of the questions, since we cannot file due to our "financial" situation. I'm a student (DUal Citizen) and he works here (local). They don't allow co-sponsors.

We are planning to do file a DCF since I will be finishing up my studies soon. Any advice or suggestions on how to start this DCF? Thanks in advance.

I went to the embassy to ask if I even need a 13a and the lady at window 25 said no. I just needed to prove that I have residency here. So, I will just need to have my 1 year notarized Lease agreement with my wife and I on it. Great! Saves so much time.

Why does it have to be notarized? I have a lease agreement as well, does the landlord have to sign the lease agreement in front of a notoriety, or just you?
