Confused on the whole process

I am a canadian citizen and married a US citizen May 19th 2012. We have had a 3 year ongoing relationship. I want to go to the US to be with him. Does my spouse/sponsor really have to have the income requirements that immigration wants? Seems a little much to me! Where do we even start? I have two kids, once in the US can I come back to Canada to visit my children. While the paperwork is being processed will I be able to go visit him in the US and come back to Canada? So many questions. We need to know the ansewrs to these questions before we file paperwork.

07/24/13 : NOA1

01/13/14 : Case transferred to CSC

01/31/14 : NOA2

NVC

02/11/14 : NVC received the case

03/18/14 : Case number assigned and IIN/BIN

03/19/14 : ENROLL Email sent (Did not receive auto reply)

03/20/14 : DS-261 Available and submitted

03/21/14 : AOS bill Available and paid

I only know about your 1st question - yes, your husband must meet the poverty guidelines to prove that he can support you when you live in the US. As for the visiting from US to Canada and vice versa, some expert here can tell you that.

You really need to go to the guides and follow them step by step. This site has a ton of great information and people willing to help you out, but you have to do a little research first. Just start clicking around and you'll be surprised how much you will learn.

Primary sponsors and joint sponsors must meet the poverty guidelines as defined by the most current I-864P in order to qualify for sponsorship or the beneficiary's visa application will be denied on the grounds of "beneficiary likely to become a public charge." Simple as that. It's also important to mention that simply meeting the guidelines does not guarantee a visa will be issued, a CO will make the public charge determination at the interview based on submitted documentation.
