Hello every body :D So I am curious, After you get married...you apply for AOS immidiately, or before the 90 days right? but isnt the permenant thing, the i-485a an 'after 2 years' document? Do I need to have $1000+325+70 ready the day after we get married? What is the total cost I can expect to pay as far as forms go in this 90 day period? I read Ewoks pinned deal, but I still am not sure what the appropriate time for the forms biometrics etc are... I was hoping those going through it may have a better idea? Can i wait 2 years for that i-485 supplements? Thank you very much, have a great day.

here is a list of the forms you need to file

1. G-325a

2. I-864

3. I-485

4. I-765 (optional)

5. I-131 (optional)

I dont know where you got the I-485a because I have never heard of anyone filing that form.....

I think you have got confused...

Once your AOS has been approved you have to file a I-751 to lift the conditions off your Greencard 1 year and 9 months after approval.....

that is a link to the guide for AOS for K1

hope this helps

It was just a supplemental thing for the 485.. i guess my question is, in that 90 days, how much money do i need to prepare to spend on forms? :D thank you for your reply i appriciate it :D

I-485A is for people who were adjusting under the last amnesty. Normally people who entered the country illegally -- "without inspection" -- are not permitted to adjust status. For a short time back in 2001, there was an "amnesty" and they were allowed to file for adjustment of status (provided they had a basis for adjustment such as a USC relative). But they had to file I-485A and pay the extra $1000.

You do not need to file that.

You need to file for adjustment of status after marrying on a K-1. The forms with fees associated are:

I-485 Adjustment of Status

I-765 Employment Authorization

I-131 Advance Parole (permission to return to US after traveling abroad)

biometrics fee

Go to www.uscis.gov and click on "immigration forms and fees" on the menu on the left side. Click on "forms, fees" and you will see a list of all the forms and their fees. Then you can do the math yourself.

I've just been hanging around places like this for way too long. ;o)

I replied to your second post in this thread but for some reason it got lumped into my earlier post. So please read upstairs re: the fees.

if my addition is correct it came to $675

I make it $765.00

I-130 = $190

I-485 = $325.00 +$70.00 for biometrics =$395.00

I-765 = $180.00

TOTAL $765.00

Then there are the hidden costs , USCIS will send you to an authorised civil surgeon for a full medical

which can cost upwards of $100.00 to $200.00 or more , the costs of getting certified copies of marriage certificates, birth certificates , certified copies of divorce documents (if any), and make copies of everything, do not send any original documents with your package as they will keep them for there records.

If theres anything i forgot then there are others here who will tell you.

Good reminder about the other costs besides filing fees -- esp. the civil surgeon.

EDITED so that quotation would appear properly

oh well damn yeah if we tally what we've spent so far...don't forget the money you spent to go visit...

a lot more than 1200... and those people that need to pay for hotels and such for their fiance...wow

But its all worth it :D I'm just glad the 485 is under 1000. That's a relief for me... I did a 129 in august...already paid for medical and visa etc... I just needed to know what to have on hand for the day we get married :D I appriciate all your helpful answers take care.
