Expanded Country Forum: By Consulate/Embassy city

Hi VJ lovers!

It's great there's a Forum for different Countries.

How about taking it a step further, and have a Forum which includes that countries US consulate/Embassy.

Example: Country = CANADA City consulate/embassy= VANCOUVER or MONTREAL

Forum could be: CANADA/VANCOUVER or CANADA/MONTREAL

As the beneficiary, I usually seek information from my own Country, Canada, and look for replies from people in my city, Vancouver. I think it would streamline a lot of conversations to stay within like minded areas of the site. Especially for NEW people to the site. Lots to explore on this site, once you know where to look

Anyone else with me? Or does this Forum or Portal already exist?

Unless I miscounted, there are only six countries listed on VJ's country list that have more than one embassy -- Canada, China, India, Israel, Japan, and Turkey. Are there differences how the process is handled between the Vancouver and Montreal embassies that someone would need to know specific information for that particular site?

Part One: The K-1 Visa Journey:

USCIS Receipt of I-129F: January 24, 2012 | Petition Approval: June 15, 2012 (No RFEs)
Interview: October 24, 2012 - Review | Visa Delivered: October 31, 2012

Part Two: Entry and Adjusting Status:

POE: November 18, 2012 (at SFO) - Review
Wedding: December 1, 2012 | Social Security: New cards received on December 7, 2012.
AOS Package (I-485/I-765/I-131) NOA1: February 19, 2013 | Biometrics Appt.: March 18, 2013
AP/EAD Approved: April 29, 2013 | Card Received: May 6, 2013 | AOS Interview Appt.: May 16, 2013 - Approved Review Card Received: May 24, 2013

Part Three: Removal of Conditions:

I'd +1 this if I hadn't hit my daily quota. This site is already SO atomized, and the number of sub-fora now is mind-boggling. There is a robust advanced search option that can help filter down replies.

Sorry to sound like a grouchy old-timer.

Why does a country the size of Israel have two?

I wonder if Israel used to process immigrant visas through one consulate, then switched to other, making one a legacy consulate.

Hi there. From my personal experience, as a Canadian, in Vancouver, there are slight differences in the way things are 'handled' on the west coast vs the east coast. There are 'portals' for specific information. There are just a lot of 'portals to jump through'.

But my point was, I wish there was a Country + City Forum. Then those people, in your area, can direct you to all the other sites, and forums and portals that pertain to your situation. Not that I don't appreciate hearing from others all over the world, but sometimes situations are handled differently.

*I had no idea there were only 6 countries listed that have more then one embassy. good.gif

Cheers!

Filed: Citizen (apr) Country: Ireland

Why does a country the size of Israel have two?

There's only one embassy (Tel Aviv), but there is a consulate in Jerusalem.

I agree that no further splitting is needed, the traffic in the country forums isn't so much that threads cannot be found, and there is the search function.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

I guess I'm not understanding your rationale. If you're a Canadian going the K-1 route, for example, then outside of the post-NOA2 -> interview -> POE stage, you would likely be communing with others who are at same step in the journey regardless of the country to get explanations on the adjustment of status steps, etc. For example, the January 2012 I=129F filers. Our future spouses are from different countries, but the process is the same at that stage: Wait.

What portals/sites/forums in particular would you be pointed to that aren't already clearly defined on the site, either in the country/region-specific forums or on the country info pages?
