Yes, USCIS knows about it - or maybe even they do not.

It's all very mysterious. It depends on number of factors including, the nature of your case and the frequency of oaths at your district. I would say the wait can be from 4 days to 4 months (120 days) - the time that USCIS legally has after the interview and before they decide about your case.

It depends on many factors . If DO does administrative or juridical oath for the most of the times . Has nothing to do with education or what you have together .

I assume you live in NY and your interview was conducted in NY. There is no administrative oath in NY. Oath is conducted in Federal Courts. And if you live in NYC then you will take your Oath in US Eastern District Courthouse in Brooklyn. After passing the interview, it takes anywhere from 1 week to 3 weeks to get the Oath notice in the mail and then another few days between 4 days to 30 days for the date of Oath. It all depends on the luck. In my wife's case, she received her Oath notice within 2 weeks of her interview but there was only 5 days gap between the receipt of oath notice and the date of Oath. I must say its very quick in NYC because up to 300 people take Oath twice a week in Brooklyn Courthouse, which means 600 people in a week which is very high number. That's why its so quick over here.

I passed my interview on Dec 5 in Chicago. The officer offered me the Oath Ceremony on Dec 7 which I jumped at. I waited 40 minutes for the Oath Letter, and 2 days later came back for the Oath. Ironically a week after I became naturalized, the Oath Letter came in the mail summoning me to attend the ceremony on Dec 7th which I believe is computer generated.

Thanks Wilerao59 !! This really helped getting an estimate of the amount of time i have to wait. I scheduled an infoPass for Dec 26th anyway. We'll see how it goes. Can't wait for the journey to be over !!

AaronLV I find strange you haven't get an Oath letter yet have you call them?

We haven't had the interview yet. When we went in for the first interview, they found an error on the wife's permanent resident card. When my wife was issued the card, the officer had put down the wrong code on the card, and no one had caught it until the officer at the interview was reviewing all of the information. The computer was correct, the card was wrong. He told us we were lucky that CBP didn't notice when we came back in the country from our trips, because they would have denied her entry. So we had to refile for a GC, and are now waiting for that to process before we can complete the interview, they put the N-400 on hold while we get the GC fixed and then will complete the interview.

I have requested an expedite since it was USCIS error, but of course I have still heard nothing....

One correction, though. Now the Oath in NYC (Brooklyn Courthouse) doesn't conduct Naturalization Oath Ceremony twice a week....even not every week; rather every other week. And applicants from Long Island also take their Oath in this courthouse. But as I said that this courthouse holds Oath ceremony for up to 300 people on each ceremony which is in itself a very high number of people.

I think you might not need to go on with your infopass appointment because your oath letter could arrive by then if your application was indeed approved at the interview instead of waiting for supervisory approval. At the Oath ceremony, just double check all the information on your naturalization certificate such as your full name, marital status, sex, date of birth and country of birth; otherwise you would be spending many months chasing USCIS and wasting of tons of efforts, time and energy in addition to money just to get the corrected naturalization certificate later on which could take many months, which is what exactly happened with my wife. She recently became a US citizen...just a few days over two weeks ago...on 27th of November but everything is hold for her. No US Passport nor updating of her status with SSA and DMV because we are in the process of getting corrected naturalization certificate for her which would take another two-three months and addition $$$. So even though she was thru with her immigration journey so easily and quickly, she is now struck with all this mess....And all this happened because of her own mistake...which was not be bright and not paying attention to things. Anyway, I just don't want you to be in the same mess.

When I saw the mistake on her naturalization certificate, I immediately called USCIS on their toll free number. We were told to make infopass appointment and deal this with local USCIS office. I immediately made the appointment and got the first appointment 2 weeks later which was yesterday. I had to be ready before going to this appointment with all the forms and documents such as Form N-565, photos, birth certificate, copy of her green card, her school records, our marriage certificate and copy of her N-400 along with fees of $345. This form is required to get a replaced naturalization certificate. We waited too long just to be told that the office is going to request her A file from National service center where they send the file after closing the case. We are told that they would send a letter to us to come to the office in 2 months when her file would arrive. Though I don't know why you take this long just to get a file. Anyway, we are not in a mess and I don't want anyone to go thru with all this. That's why it's very important to check the naturalization certificate carefully at the Oath ceremony because they can correct anything right there on the spot and free of charge and without waiting for months.
