N-400 JUNE 2012 Filers

I honestly didn't notice the 30 day bit until the other day. I'm not sure if that changed or not, since my last status update on July 30th.

The impression I got from the agent I spoke with, is that she didn't actually have my file up on her screen. I'd entered the case number on the robo-menu, but when I finally got to a live person, I had to give the receipt number again, spell my name and all that other stuff - give her phone numbers and email address, physical address - all the stuff that was on my application and that comes with any correspondence I would get in the mail.

So it's possible that further action has been taken (ie interview letter sent) but she wouldn't have been able to see it. I suppose I could have asked for a Tier 2 agent, but that seemed like 'overkill' given that I'm only 62 days into the process, and there are plenty of others near or over the 150 day average. I'm anxious but I don't want to be pushy!

I just figured since the site status pretty much invited me to call after the 30 days, I might as well. Too bad it didn't glean anything new.

Another applicant who posts on another tracker, who applied a few days after me, made the same call and got her interview date, 9/25. To my knowledge she hasn't got the letter yet but she was given the date on the phone. Not sure if she spoke to Tier 2 rep or not, I didn't ask. She found out the other day.

They asked me all that too, then the rep asked me who told me to call after 30 days, I said, um... the letter I got. Then he said I'd hear something by Sept 14.

I'm going about 80 days since I file and getting impatient since I'd really love to vote. I hope they just hurry this thing up.

Do you think speaking to a lvl 2 agent would make a difference?

It seems it's more in the hands of the local office than it is in USCIS' hands.

What made me nervous, is that I have a business trip to another state on Sept 21 and returning on the 25th. Those are the three business days out of the whole year, that I would be unavailable, and the person I was referring to above, got her interview for the 25th. Bottom line - if my interview fell on one of those days, I'd have to cut my business trip short - it's for a trade show, so I can't just go another time, but I'd have to attend late, or leave early and my accommodations are prepaid and non-refundable. So worst case, I'm out some $$ and miss out on a good time at that annual event. I'd sooner do that than attempt to reschedule an interview because goodness knows how long that might take. I'm speculating that if they don't have an interview scheduled for me as of now, it will likely take place after the 25th so that will solve that dilemma.

Of course, there could be a letter in the mail too... usually the interviews seem to be about a month from the date of the letter, give or take a couple of days, at least from my observation from what folks have posted.

So I'm sitting tight for now.

Yep. If no letter arrives before next week, my trip will likely be OK. However it will probably kill my chances to register to vote in time. I guess we can't have everything, right As it is, it would be a tight squeeze to get interview and oath in time to register.

If things really drag on, come January I'll have bigger troubles. My GC expires on 1/3/13. I applied with just over 6 months left on it - which fits with the criteria - if the GC has 6 months or more left when filing for N-400, there is no requirement to renew it. However, my driver's license also expires on the same day. GA won't issue a driver's license beyond one's legal permanent resident status. I had to renew that in July and I got a 5-month license... for the 4-year rate (that's another rant... they've changed the rules in recent years and I got cheated out of 2 years the last time around...tried to get it resolved but they made me pay again. They gave me 1 year instead of 3... for the 4-year rate for a citizen). Can't win that argument with the state, so it is what it is. But if I'm not finished the process by Jan 3, I won't be able to drive... and that's a problem.

A bit soon to be panicking about that, but there are plenty in my district who are pushing 6 months on their application so it is in the back of my mind. Hopefully though, that won't become an issue.

I was placed inline for interview since August 16th, wasn't aware till i received email notice of " In line for interview " on 8/28 and scheduled for interview on same day. IO officer informed me of my interview date. Waiting for letter in mail.

Looks like our branch of June filers will be divided for three teams.

First - people who are lucky to go through process fast and who will have chance to vote.

Second - who got slower paths, who will be late to vote, but still can answer old names for the test on the interview.

Third teams will be made of people who will have their interviews after November 6, and will have to study new names.

I guess I am in second, hope to know soon.

Good luck for those who have their interviews soon!

This is wearing you out ha!.

You know, assuming standard cases with no complications, Poeple that got their IL are not much better than who did not trust me, my reason is offices are way different from each other.

If you go through other forums, you can clearly see different situations like :

1: some get the IL, get interviewed and get oath same day or within a month or so from the interview

2: some get the IL , get interviewed and get oath after 2 to 4 months of the interview (seen many cases of backloged offices)

3: some dont get the IL only after sometime of the BIO, and when done with interview, they can be either of the two options mentioned above.

So, in short what I wana say is IL is not really an indicator when you will become citizen, its just the step before the final step( oath). You can take my office for example, some got same day oath, some waited a week, others waited 45 days (and they were all approved at the interview without any complications)

I know its an ease when you know you are scheduled and your case is moving and not lost or forgtten here or there, but it will happen:)

Did you try to track recent members of the same office you are in to find out how long approx it takes for the IL after the BIO ?

Yep, there is Ilarrotta in the same office, and I know one girl who filed in May. They have their dates, I supposed to have it this week or next, I hope. Bio dates don't work, I made it before Ilarrotta - now I'm behind :unsure:

I think I will not vote because I am going to change my name and it will take more time to get to the Oath. So, I am in the second group from my classification

I agree, changing name will take a little bit. I heard that this happen at the court though and it takes approx 60 days. do you know of any who changed their name and how long it took them!

Hi Every one. I have filed my N-400 on July 22, 2012. Got my FP done on July 7th, 2012. I have not received any update or letter since than. Today is September 1, 2012. I don't know if anything went wrong.

One person told me it takes 2/3 weeks after FP to get the appointment.

Sent mine to TX. My district office is Atlanta, GA. Does anybody have any idea when I can receive the appointment. Or has anyone received appointment filing this time?

Did you do FP on August 7? Your post says you did FP before you filed... I'm guessing that's a typo.

I've been in the queue for interview since July 30. My online status says if I don't get an interview letter within 30 days of then, to call. I called the other day ... 20 minutes on the phone wasted - they couldn't tell me anything and the district office has 15 days to respond.

This is rather typical of ATL since early June. It's a busy office, so they are probably just bogged down. Sit tight, be patient - our turn will come sooner or later.
