Hello!

Yes! We are sending ours out, too, this month. Just waiting on the 2011 transcript.

Quick and stupid question: What did you put for Part 8, Letter G: How many times has your current spouse been married? I've only been married once--to my current spouse. Do I put 1? Or do I not put anything since it falls in the "previous marriages section"? Or, do I write a note saying that this is my current and only marriage? Basically, both of us have only been married once, only to each other.

Hello,

the question is not about you, its about your current spouse previous marriages.

For example, if your spouse (wife/husband) was married twice before you, then you should put 2 and list her/his ex spouses details.

I know its confusing but here is more details:

lets assume I am LPR, and my wife US .. this is my first marriage ever, but she was married twice before to Tony and Jim.

Then part 8 G ., how many times your current spouse (my wife)been married: this should be 2

then from question 1 to 5, I should fill them with my wife ex husbands details (their first, last etc etc)

You are CURRENTLY married, so if this is your wife only marrige, and your only marriage as well then the answer should be ZERO and N/A from part 8 F and G since she was not married before to anyone, neither you

Also I want to mention that I tried more than 5 times to order my 2011 transcripts (online and through the automated phone) and I never received them (it worked last year though), I ended going to the IRS office to get my 2011, its free and it would take only 20 min max , just saying so.

Looking at the Example Forms on VJ here. You put 1 on part 8, letter G if this is your first marriage to your current spouse (and vice versa) so you count your current marriage you have now as 1.. so if a person was say married twice before, then under that assumption you would write 3 (two previous marriages and the current one) In your case, after you have written 1 on part 8, letter G, you would then see the next question that says that if you had been married before (any previous marriages) to write previous spouses names (question 1).. you would write N/A as they have shown in the example form (link below)

I agree with all but Part 8-G

My doubt came from the way the question is phrased, how many times has your CURRENT been married, this tells me they ask me how many my right now wife was married before, and I guess her ex marriages need to be put not including my current with her since this was mentioned already at part 8 A when I decleared I am applying for my citizenship through marriage from my wife who is US etc etc etc

I really wish we can get a fixed answer from ppl who succefully got their citizenship to make sure we got it right. I went to N-400 instructions , itc clear but not that clear..........

Yah, congratulations! I have been checking my bank account and email like a madwoman hoping that I will get some notice. I took a guess that your local USCIS office is NY, NY no one in the Lewisville section has been completing that section on our spreadsheet. Anyway added your cheque cashing date as well.

Hopefully the rest of us will have notice soon.

This same question is on all Immigration forms that I have ever filled out. So if you have filled out your removal of conditions you have already filled out this question and gotten your green card in the past. It is as kiwiana stated that if both you and your spouse have only been married to each other than you put 1 for both yourself and your current spouses marriage history. A 0 would mean your spouse is not even married to you. HTH.
