I passed my interview today as well...I mean I got recommended for approval.

Was scheduled for 10 am, got there 9:40....but I got called only at 10:50...was in the office for less than 10 minutes.

Questions (not in this order...can't remember it right):

Who wrote the Declaration of Independence

Name 3 of the first 13 colonies

What month do we elect the president

Who is the commander in chief

What are the two major political parties

What is the political party of the current president

I was asked to read :

Who elects the Congress

I got to write:

The people elect Congress.

Went over my paperwork, verified all info is correct, got to sign a paper and that was it.

One question...my case has been updated online all the time really fast as I was getting the text messages and then I was receiving the official envelope in the mail within couple of days. Now,since yesterday it hasn't been updated yet...does it take a while? I remember when I went for my green card it was updated before I got home from the interview...is this a different process?

Its not about it being different, the USCIS online system is NOT reliable, some cases will update, some other will not even though they are US citizens already.

Anyway, if yours will update, it will update when you are scheduled for oath

My wife filed N-400 in June 14, 2012 and she received her interview letter today in the mail on October 4, 2012 for the next month interview on November 9, 2012. We live in Queens in NYC, just across the new USCIS field office in Long Island City in NY...a few blocks away. A few facts about her case-(1) she did her fingerprinting on July 7, 2012 on the date mentioned on her fingerprinting letter and not just on walking-basis prior to scheduled date of July 7,2012. (2) After done fingerprinting on July 7, 2012, she did NOT receive anything from USCIS or did not hear at all from USCIS, meaning no "Yellow Letter" (which she still did not receive) and she didn't receive any email or text from them despite of giving all these information. Plus, her case was not placed in a queue for the interview either. So receiving an interview letter today was just a shocking and pleasing. A bit short of full 4 months to receive the interview notice after filing the application and a bit short of 5 months for the interview after filing the application, which is not bad at all for an application in NYC.

Ok, I am officially a US citizen .

The oath was a special one that was held at the gym hall of a big school where a senator representative, voting representatives(I registered today), more than 3 judges attended plus a reception at the end of the oath. Everyone talked here and there about what it means to be a citizen and welcomed us in the american family.

There were 43 to be naturalized today, the whole event took 3 hours from start to finish, and we got to take a punch of pictures with family and judges.

We were also given a big thick envlope (for free), inside it a very nice white envlope to put the certificate in, a booklet thats a replica of the original constitution, a small flag pin, passport application, and a historical booklet that talks about the history of immigrants with pictures of the most important immigrants events in the last 200 years.

Overall, everyone enjoyed and was happy to be finally done forever with USCIS, and many stayed for the reception that was really great.

Goodbye USCIS, I will never forget the amount of time, money and efforts that I and everyone here go through to finish their journey.

I will stick around from time to time to follow up with you guys till the end of your journey's.

Coloso I hate how "uneven" the system is...I know people here in the city who filed after me and already had their oath. One word: frustrating!

Thanks Grashoppr and the2ofus, yes this was a very special cermony for some reason, they told us that this cermony was rushed so we can vote (deadline Oct 9).

Once you get that certificate in your hand, you really want to hug it for all kinds of reasons.

They told us to update social security after two weeks or so, and to get a passport so we can travel, went out to the post office and applied for the passport (they take the original naturalization certificate, but I made a copy in the post office in case, also, they told us to go to the BMV to fill a form to update our driver liscense in their data base, thats it.

wondering if any will get interview letters in the coming week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
