I've never understood that reasoning for wearing a veil. As a male, I can say with confidence that I have NEVER had perverse sexual thoughts after seeing someone's face. It ain't the face that y'all need to cover up, if that's your objective.....

Well.. if it wasn't the norm nowadays for women to be nearly nude in public then you might be attracted to a woman's face... I mean if you didn't have so much more of her to look at these days :P

I don't think nowadays people don't wear hte veil for religious purposes.. rathern than political purposes and reasons to be offendd.. if the islam says veils aren't a requirement then #######... it's just a dumb feminist thingie..

This may be so in some cases but I do know quite a few women who wear the veil here in the states and the UK and they do so for religious reasons... most of them do not work so they don't run into this problem though.

Also, there is no one central authority that speaks on behalf of all muslims as to what is or is not allowed in Islam.... so that last statement is not really fair to those who don't follow the person who made those claims.

Oh, I'm attracted to faces, but I don't start having "perverse" thoughts about faces. I fell in love with Sian's face, but it was her personality that made me want to ravage her. LOL! To me, the veil thing just promotes the idea of women as a marketable commodity. To many people, it's the personality that is truly sexy, not the face or anything else that you can "see". The veil implies otherwise.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

I have no problems with someone wearing a veil as long as their performance is not hindered. Since it is in this case, she should take it off. What she is doing is saying that her religious beliefs are more important than educating children. For some people that might not seem wrong, but to me it does.

it's not wrong.. she didn't agree with the contract or clauses.. well, it's her damn fault for being so 'rebel' and be 'agains the rules in the name of religion'.. that's bs..

That's why I have a hard time understanding this veil thing. I completely agree.

To me, it's hardly different from letting it all hang out. I see nothing wrong with the female form and I am not offended by cleavage or long legs in a mini-skirt. But women who show that much skin seem to be saying "this is the most important thing about me." Covering it all up to the point that people can't even hear you talk serves, in my opinion, the exact same purpose. It says "I am only worth what I look like, and that is why I have gone to such great lengths to cover it up. My personality is not worth being attracted to."

A little off-topic... At any rate, this woman is nuts. I try, TRY, to respect religious beliefs, but seriously... #######?

I had a TA in college who wore a veil and I agree with those children I could not understand some things she said. To me, I have to see people's lips in order to understand what they say. Also, I would spend half the time wondering what she looked like under there.

i dont really believe a veil does anything to stop a man from wondering whats under it. my best friend used to veil herself and trust me...my ex husbands friends would say things like wonder what she looks like under that...i would like to rip that thing off and see.

so really does it really prevent anything?

I used to live in Philadelphia and I have been to the middle east and the veil sometimes represents different things, which sometimes people try to link to Islam. It is not require however i do not understand why people get so upset over things like this. If you want you legs out then find, if you want them covered up then fine. I am a muslimah and I wear hijab and it seems like I get the unnecessary attention, however I do not play in to it. You can sometimes feel the evil in people and you know they want to say something or they have some stupid comment or they ask you about hte Mosque. I know that they judge me right from the being, I guess being black I am "use" to it, but when my on group does it it is hard. One thing that I noticed is that the way I dress makes people become insecure or extremely holy. I do not know maybe it is just me.

You guys are being very hard and some people do not understand enough about islam or culture. It should not bother anybody. And this talk is why there is so many issues between the culture. I understood her, the thing that gets me is that you feel like you need to see the lips to understand english. This is interesting maybe this goes more in to a different form communcation but understanding what she said I could hear what she said. A point the interview brought up was that when she was interviewed did she wear the veil she did not want to answer and this makes me feel like she lied. Lying is not good and it is sad that you have to lie about yourself to get a job. She did not wear the veil at the interview and this says a lot about the society that we live. I am in the military and I made a transition as far as being muslim and I did not wear hijib at work, I do not veil but I have though about it. It seems like more men want you when you with someone. And again like my previous post it is something that is seen as you are married or taken. I think it is cool and the problem is people should not be offended by it. I hope that people do not get to crazy, but if you listen to her she speaks very well.
