Which income values do I use according to the Tax Return Transcripts?

According to my joint sponsor's tax return transcripts:

for the tax year of 2010

under the INCOME section:

WAGES, SALARIES, TIPS, ETC. = $80,000

TOTAL INCOME = $60,000

TOTAL INCOME PER COMPUTER = $60,000

under the ADJUSTMENTS TO INCOME section:

ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME = $60,000

ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME PER COMPUTER = $60,000

Please note that the TOTAL INCOME is LESS THAN the WAGES, SALARIES, TIPS, ETC income amount.

for the tax year of 2009

under the INCOME section:

WAGES, SALARIES, TIPS, ETC. = $80,000

TOTAL INCOME = $90,000

TOTAL INCOME PER COMPUTER = $90,000

under the ADJUSTMENTS TO INCOME section:

ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME = $90,000

ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME PER COMPUTER = $90,000

Please note in this case, the TOTAL INCOME is GREATER THAN the WAGES, SALARIES, TIPS, ETC income amount.

QUESTION: I'm confused as to why the TOTAL INCOME in both years are both GREAT & LESS THAN. Which values do I use to enter into the I-864 form for the previous tax years total income?

Thank you in advance. Sorry for this question

Did your co-sponsor own a business? He may have had a loss in 2010 and had a gain in 2009 causing total income to be greater in one year and lower in another.

If the joint sponsor is self employed then the current income amount is the figure shown on line 22 of their 2011 1040 tax return.

If the joint sponsor is a wage/salary earner the current income is their current annualized earnings, not a past year's amount. For example: a person currently earns $5,000 per month, their income is $60,000.

Use the line called "TOTAL INCOME".
