Ok now we have the items Canadians miss being south, and new things they have discovered. How about those of you that are there tell us what foods taste the same.

K-1 journey, AOS/EAD and ROC in my timeline

2011 March 31 - Sent off Naturalization pkg overnight to Texas

2011 April 1 - Arrived in Texas at 10:21 am

2011 April 1 - NOA (rec'd via snail mail April 8)

2011 April 7 - Cheque cashed

2011 May 5 - Biometrics (letter rec'd via snail mail April 15)

2011 May 9 - Placed in line for interview scheduling

2011 June 13 - Rec'd yellow letter (no change in status online)

2011 June 23 - Rec'd text that my case has been scheduled for interview

2011 August 1 - Interview (rec'd via snail mail June 27) PASSED

2011 August 3 - Rec'd email that my case has been scheduled for Oath

2011 September 1 - Oath ceremony (rec'd snail mail Aug 5)

2011 September 1 - All done, yeah.

eggs yeah bur peanut butter and jam can be different depending which brand. Usually more fat and sugar, same as everything else.

Stuff imported from Canada is the same tho ;)

K-1/K-2 AOS APPROVED IN ATLANTA MAY 17, 2006

10 year GC Approved - APRIL 16th ,2009 - Peggy and Jonathan's......

Still waiting for our cards...Had to file I-90 as they sent them to the wrong address.

March 9th, 2010, Received GC that has been lost in the mail for 10 months. Still waiting for my son's that is lost as well.

Filed Waiver for my son's 10 year GC and it was approved. He finally received his GC after its been missing for 2 years.

Thanking God this is over for 10 years.

Does anyone know why the flour is different?

If I remember correctly from someone from this board who found it out, flour here in the US is milled differently from flour in Canada. I think they said that cake flour here is the equivalent to our all-purpose flour at home. My aunt told me she mixes all-purpose with a premium flour and gets better results that way. All I know is that everything I bake is flatter than what I am used to, it's weird.

Oh, and Milky Way chocolate bars are made in Canada -- very similar to Mars bars :)

I can't figure the flour thing out. It is really upsetting because I make awesome cookies, I was bragging and so excited to make them and they were terrible.

I can tell you what isn't the same... Cheez Whiz!!!! Theirs is like a liquid nacho sauce.. ours is that nice thicker spreadable stuff for eating with celery!!!!

Easy (but not cheap) way to handle the flour issue is to order Robin Hood online (AlwaysCanadian or CanadianFavourites)

Almost everything is sweetened with corn syrup...blech.

Um, so are a lot of foods produced and sold in Canada--compared to almost none outside North America.

yeah, but the corn syrup used in Canada isn't the highly processed high fructose corn syrup. Its just corn syrup. Which doesn't alter your body chemistry. HFCS does :P

There are a very *few* products in Canada that use HFCS, and they're US products.

I agree 100% with that... I'm not a big ketchup fan but I could eat good old Canadian ketchup with my fries back home in Montreal... here the ketchup is too... tart, I guess. Too much vinegar, perhaps. All I know is I can't eat it.. oh and what's the deal with cream soda being brown here in the states??
