I guess the reason the person let it slip the boss just passed the bar is that so people will understand now that easyfiance visa dot com is in transition to becoming not just another service but a service provided by an attorney. However, with whome ever I have spoken to its the elves behind the scenes that actually do the filling out of paperwork and the filing. If a problem arises then the attorney steps in. To be honest a service like easyfinance visa or rapidvisa are okay services to use even as a past poster stated the USCIS deems them to be scams. I guess it all boils down to how much research you do about the company or attorney. An immigration attorney or an immigration service is like any other company. Yes they exist to make a profit. That is the nature of any business. However, read reviews and check up on them. Look at past results. Ask for and follow through on references if they wil give them out. Ask many many questions. Read everything and just don't sign on the dotted line. If it is true that easyfiance visa's boss is now a bona fide immigration lawyer who passed the bar, then when you hire easyfiance visa you are hiring an immigration lawyer.

Well, I suppose if I had the choice between two lawyers who had just recently passed the bar, one of whom had prior experience working for an immigration doc prep service, I'd hire the guy with the doc prep experience. He's less likely to botch the paperwork. However, if I had a situation that actually required the services of a lawyer, like filing an appeal or going to immigration court, both lawyers would be equally inexperienced.

If you're going to pay lawyer's fees then vet the lawyer and find out what you're getting for your money. I wouldn't necessarily refuse to hire someone who had recently passed the bar exam if my case was straightforward, and if I was getting a decent break on the fees. It would also help a lot if I knew the guy had specific experience, like working as a paralegal in a lawyer's office while they were going to law school. If they had very little specific experience, and they were charging top dollar, then I'd back away. If I had a difficult legal situation then I'd insist on an experienced attorney.

Filing a visa petition is usually a bureaucratic process. Most people don't need a lawyer for this since it's just a matter of submitting the right forms and documents. Actually getting the visa involves the discretion of a consular officer. The only way anyone else could help you with this is if they have specific experience with that specific consulate. If you've got a difficult situation (an I-601 waiver, for example) then a lawyer with extensive experience with people in the same situation can be worth their weight in gold. If you've got serious issues with a particular consulate then a lawyer with extensive experience with that consulate can be equally valuable. For most people with routine cases a lawyer is not necessary.

We hire easy fiance visa as well and they do actually make it easy they just make all the cuestions about all the info they need for filling your paper work and then get it done for you, for now we are still waiting on our NOA2 hopefully soon now, and we had no RFE get

Personally I don't understand why anyone whose case is normal and straightforward would hire a third party to handle the visa process. It's just paperwork, and all the information you need is readily available online. It seems as if people are losing confidence in their own abilities and buying into the marketing and advertising that seek to brainwash us into thinking we need to hire "an expert" to handle the simplest things...

I too am looking into Visa Agencies. I have seen prices for services run from from a 3-pay plan of 325 per payment all the way up past 1795 dollars.

On Thursday, 5/24/2012 I spoke with a person from easyfiancevisa.com and they sent me a some info through email. One link was to you tube expalining the process. There I found other agencies also doing the yooutube thing. Visa Journey website was even mentioned in one of the youtube videos I watched.

Now back to easyfinancevisa.com. The person I spoke to let it slip that the boss "just passed" the bar exam. Thus meaning they are in a state of transition from an agency providing services for you to actaully being able to offer legal advice. I guess this can help out in several cases.

Although my interest was in passing back then, I have become much more focused on finding a wife either here or abroad and thus I have been doing a lot of research into the various lawyers and agencies.

One other thing I noticed when contacting all of the services and even the so-called immigration lawyers, they all quote a success rate. Some will say 100%. Almost all say if you go off and do it on your own that the success rate is about 50%. To me this is a "talking point" to try to scare someone from doing it themselves. I mean come one when you really put the numbers on the table, you are going to spend almost 20K or more on a fiance to get here, marry her/him and have her/him become a citizen. So when the immigration lawyer (usually affliated with AILA) or even easyfiancevisa.com quotes that success rate they have versus what they believe you have, its almost logical to go with the service when you consider the amount of money and time involved, not mention feelings and emotions that yoiu have invested in your significant other.

Really? Seems a bit overblown to me.

Researching the Embassy associated with my fiance and reading all the K1 responses provided me with enough information to do it on my own and I was very successful. Do a little more research...you may be able to save yourself some money if you have the time!

If your case is not complicated, you can do it yourself. There are a lot of people here that are willing to help. I hired a lawyer and ended up with an rfe. I lost out on $800. He wanted extra for the RFE. Good luck in whatever you decide, just remember you will be doing most of the work by gathering documents anyway.

I could say easy fiance visa is reliable,They are the one who process our papers,they are not lawyers its an agency,Im almost a year now here in the U.S,but remmember lawyer or agency,they just do paper work,they cant help anything to speed the process,some people who have time to do paper work,they did it in thier own,Me and my husband when im here in the U.S to file our AOS we just did by our self and I have my Greencard now

If you have the money and it makes you feel more comfortable with an agency then it may make sense to use them. But I am here to tell you I am one of the most unorganized ADD people I know and I followed the guides on this great website and had zero problems. My fiance arrived April 2011 and we just celebrated our one year wedding anniversary last month. I guess what I am trying to say if I can do it anybody can!

Do it yourself if you dont have any complications, save the money.. your going to need it, I promise! The forms are straight forward and you have free advice from everyone on here. We did it, and really even with the RFE we got, our timing was good and we are now happy. Good Luck

Well lets work out the numbers. For my example I am going to use Colombia South America as my fiance's home country. Also for gender specifics I am a man and my fiance will be a female.

So lets start off with intial contact.

My first trip to Colombia for 7 days/6 nights is roughly right around 4,800 US Dollars. This is broken down to be Accomodations roughly 113 dollars a night. The flight to Barranquilla, Colombia is approximately 950 US dollars. Food and spending money for the trip round out the rest. Give or take a few dollars. So 1st trip 4600-4800 dollars.

Now you have been communicating this whole time so yoou could figure several hunderd dollars on communication expenses. This is emails, calls etc.

You might want to take another trip. This is recommended but not required. Add in another 4800 US dollars for a 7night/6day trip. So far you have 10K invested in trips alone. Now if on this trip you could probably save money if she puts you up for the duration of the trip. However acoomodations wil be roughly 113 a night. That includes vat etc. (In Colombia its about 13%)

Now I added up the amount it is going to cost to file the petition through AOS. This is approximately 1804.54. The med exam in bogota is 285,000 COP. Or roughly 154.54 US dollars as of march 25, 2012. Now this does not include any vaccination fees.

Colombia allows the petitioner, you, to be present at the interview. So you make a final trip to Colombia. Because this trip is a little biut longer its going to cost you more. I plan for 16 days.In Bogota I can get rent a bedroom near the embassy for approximately 54 dollars a night including taxes. So roughly 8,000 for this trip.This trip also provides for her flight from BAQ to Bogota. As well as her flight from Bogota to Chicago to Indianapolis. Now in my opinion I prefer to get a round trip flight for her for when she comes to the USA. This way it says that hey if this doesn't work out you always have a flight home. I would date the return flight approximately a little less than 3 months from the inital entry point. This flight is actually more expensive than when I purchased a flight from the USA by about 4-500 dollars. It is also a good idea not to take the bus to Bogota but rather fly because of security reasons. S a good portion of this trip money is eaten up by flight costs.

Now something you might not know about Colombia is that its known for its jewels. So you can buy a larger sized jewel for less the cost in Colombia. This was mentioned to me to buy the rings while in Colombia instead of in the USA. So I am guestimating a decent wedding set for approximately 2500 US dollars. Now I am not saying thatr I will spend that much but that is the budget I am alotting myself.

The wedding dress ensemble if she chooses to get one is approximately about 1000. This includes a point of destination dress, shoes and jewelry to wear at the wedding.

Yes you could do a JOP wedding for about 110 here in Indiana, however a decent wedding and honeymoon will cost you about 4800 dollars total if you decide to take her someplace else to get married. There are all sorts of destination weddings inside the USA you two could get married. A intimate ceremony at Walt Disney world is approximately 2595. A wedding in Las Vegas with pictures is about 750. A nice wedding package with cabin rental for a weekend stay in Gatlinburg, TN is about 1500.

Once you get married then you need to account for the AOS fees. However I already included these. Now I haven't included the fee for Affidavit of Support which is 88 dollars for domstic review.

So yeah when you add all that up, to go see her to meet the 2 year requirement until the the two of you say "I do" you can spend well over 20K total.

So actually no that is not overblown and my estimates are more than on the conservative side. One thing i want to mention, is that I have a dog. And in the cost of trips, I add 42 dollars a day for each trip. With boarding dogs you need to add a day before and a day after the trip. SO for a 7 day trip figure 9 days boarding. Each time I go to the Airport it costs me 100 bucks there and 100 bucks back for town car service. Now I could get around this by asking a neighbor take me. And I have in the past. However, I won't ask my neighbor to watch my dog again.

Like I said its not really overblown to spend 20K or more on marrying a person from outside of this country.

No actually its not the company that is charging 20K. Its all the other stuff. In my 20K see the post above for the breakdown of costs associated with marrying a person from outside of this country. I can take all of the skin off the apple and wittle it down to its core but you still had to go through all of the apple to get to its core. When you add up all the associated costs, the fee for a fiance visa service or an immigration lawyer is just a small part of the overall picture.

Yes there are ways to cut costs but the fact remains, it costs to fly to a foreign country, to eat in a foreign country, to dp things in a foreign country and to marry a person from a foreign country. The k-1 visa process is just a small portion of that cost. It is not the entire cost. That is where you read the post wrong to say that I am saying that it costs 20K to submit the k-1 Visa process. It doesn't. Read the post again.

Oh and btw if you notice, I did not add in a fee to use a service like easyfiance visas. The breakdown I posted is if you were to submit the k-1 visa yourself. For a K-1 visa filing through AOS is roughly 1805 US dollars for Colombia. If you look at the break down postedon this site, this site will even tell you that number.

So add approximately 300-2500 for a service or immigration lawyer.

easyfiance visa has been around for a long time. The owner just passed the bar. I noticed someone compare the boss as someone new to the business versus someone who had been around awhile. Just because the boss passed a test doesn't mean he is new in the business. I am probably more than 100% sure that that "boss" could give me better or equal service as a veteran immigration lawyer. Considering they both have about equal experience in the matters.

Look whether you choose to go with a service or not is an individual choice. One that you and your s/o must make. However with whatever you do, do your research and know that yoour mileage may vary in whatever you do. No two experiences will be the same because no two experiences are the same.

Go with a service or not,I don't care just do your research.

I can see why you would say $20k in your scenario based on your situation. For me my flights to Nigeria were both $875 and $650, I stayed in my house - no hotel except in Lagos for two nights @ $60 per, $1,500 spending money each trip, initial wedding in the US will be at the courthouse.

Not sure what the point of hiring the service will get you other than a waste of money, it is very easy , as long as you have the information, which you will need for the service anyways, you can do it in a few hours,
