Hello VJ member !

its been a while since i posted but i read this forum often recently.

My fiance already have a B1 visiting visa that we plan to use when we get married in Jordan this coming July. We will be attempting to have her visit and she will then return back to Jordan to complete the CR1 process after i submit it.

i am hoping that she'll be able to visit while the USCIS approves my petition but my question is when the petition reaches the NVC can she fill out some of the paperwork here as she's visiting or does she have to go back to Jordan to fill them out? i know she'll have to interview there but i am not sure how would it would work with the timing if she's still in the US and it reaches the NVC stage.

Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

How long is she going to be visiting with you after you're married? The USCIS takes an average of 5 months to approve a petition. She'll probably be given 6 months in the USA when she arrives on a B1/B2, but it's usually not advised to stay that long.

The NVC stage is really all about collecting and verifying documents before sending them on to the consulate. It doesn't matter WHERE she fills out the forms. However you want them to have the most up-to-date information possible. There'll be a lot of time for her to fill out the Immigrant Visa Application form and sign it, to have it sent in to the NVC. Her Choice of Agent designation can be sent via email. If there is some sort of express mail/courier service available to her in Jordan, then she can send you the hardcopy documents for the NVC once the petition has been approved by the USCIS.

I hope I understood your question correctly :)

Just in case you haven't seen this, here's an easy guide here on VJ: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/EZGuideSpouse. Very helpful.

Thank you so much ~! that answered my question, and thank you for the ez guide. i saved it and will be reading it again and again to make sure i know all the steps.

We are hoping for 6 months visit as i know it will be hard if we don't get that as it will be our first year being married. We'll be coming back in end of July and my birthday is in November and of course you have all the holidays and Christmas that we want to spend together so it will be tough. I am taking it one step at a time now is to get married and have her in the US legally on her tourist visa as a visitor only. We do have a return ticket purchased and everything so wish me luck with POE in july !!

has anyone visited their spouse during the Cr1?? and i'll be curious to see how long they stayed in the US before heading back to their country.

Thanks again !

I have her booked for 6 months , as thast the period we would like to have her visit. i'll take whatever time they will allow to visit, hopefully it'll be enough for her to settle a bit before she heads back to Jordan.
