It's a big economic decision. Some ladies have had to stay in the PI to have the baby, and then do more paperwork to bring it home to US.

$10K in the US to have the baby private pay, vs $1800 in the PI to have it. The savings would be a big down payment for a college fund for the little crumb cruncher.

Good luck!

That sounds a lot for the PI.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Actually this is what I am contemplating right now but it has been a long wait to further wait some more. Right now visa seems to be available in plus minus September, her due is Feb. I mean, its either September or Feb plus months of waiting for birth certificate, moving of interview, etc. And if she gets approved and waits for the baby "6 months" validity would pass.

Most of the hospitals have services for pregnant women without insurance. I sugest that you check with the local hospital to see if they offer such services. You can also call ob-gyn office near you and ask them if they can refer you to some local services. When I lived in NY and was pregnant with my second child, my doctor's office helped me to obtain a medical insurance. It called "health plus". You can search online for this.
