hello everyone, i was referred to this site not too long ago by a friend. i'm only now just registering, but i've been doing a lot of reading. june 1st will my 1 year anniversary to my beautiful wife, who lives in the philippines. i was in the military (air force), and recently separated in february. i'm home now, and just started my new job on may 1st.

i'm aware of the separate sections for the various visas and what not, but i never refuse help from others. i'll be getting started on paperwork very soon and it really looks like a daunting task. if someone who's been through the process of bringing a husband or wife from the philippines to the US is around, i'm open to any advice or tips. it will be greatly appreciated  thank you all for your time, and i'm glad to be here.

If you look at the forums there is an entire section in the regional area just for Philippines information and chats.

I married my wife 19 Jan 2011 and filed her I-130 14 Feb 2011. After all the paperwork and fees were done she arrived in the US 1 Oct 2011. We are now doing the same for her two boys. Just found out today that USCIS has approved both of their petitions and now we will be dealing with the NVC. I would be more than happy to assist you by answering any questions you have. The USCIS website has all the forms you will need and the instructions for filling them out. You don't need an immigration atty. They are a serious waste of cash when you can do the whole process yourself.

Since you have been married less then two years,,, The visa you are needing is the CR-1.

Your need to file the form I-130 to apply for the CR-1 visa.

Start here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/guides

Specifically:

Guides if you are married:

US Citizen lives in the US & Spouse lives overseas:

----- Option 1: CR-1 / IR-1 Visa and I-130 Petition Guide, NVC Flowchart

It is not so hard,,, just read and lean on the VJ family.

Of course things change,,, but, this is the I-130 cover letter that lists the contents I sent in with my I-130 app in 2009.
