Hi guys!

This forum has been so much help with everything and I really appreciate everyone's input.

I have a friend, who is here on a 3-year R-O1 Visa for Music and Entertainment. We're trying to figure out how to apply for a greencard based on the visa and would appreciate any pointers in the right direction!

Thank you so much!

Best.

That would be down to the Employers Immigration Lawyer. This is not a DIY issue, Lawyers handle them.

My understanding is that for people with Extraordinary Ability there doesn't have to be an offer of employment in which case my friend wouldn't be applying through an employer. That's why we're looking into doing it ourselves.

I have noticed on prior threads that extraordinary ability usually does include knowledge of immigration issues.

Fortunately such people tend to have large bank accounts and employ Lawyers to deal with it.

I think every case I have seen has been in California and there seems to be a number of Lawyers there familiar with the process and the issues.

No.

It would be unusual not to.

The form filling requirements are on the USCIS web site.

The nuances are not.

I would strongly recommend that your friend does not use a friend who is not familiar with the process.

Time to cough up.

Got it. So if one were to be unusual and not have a lawyer how would one proceed? ;)From what I gather online it seems that one would have to file I-485 and I-140?

From what I gather too. I'm really not too familiar with employment based/skill based green cards. Filling out paperwork is usually easy and straightforward though. Proving extraordinary ability to the likes of the USCIS is quite a different case.
