Did my appointment the day BEFORE my scheduled appt. Left home @ 5:30 am for the 2.5 hr drive, got there at 8 when office opened. Didn't have to show security my paperwork. They asked if I knew where to find office I had to be at. Told him Biometrics and he pointed me to the right direction.

There were about seven 8o'clock appointments that showed up right after. At check in office, I handed the rep my paperwork. Didn't say anything about why I'm here early. Rather, I waited for him to ask the question. He didn't. He only asked if i'd mind waiting for the appointments to get done first. Totally understandable and expected. I was super grateful that I wouldn't be turned away. The wait was for about 35 mins. approximately. The biometrics lady was super friendly and talkative. Very friendly atmosphere, smooth process. In all, I got done by about 9 am.

Things to remember:

1. Walk with quarters for parking, or with someone who wouldn't mind waiting in car to avoid that, as the process usually doesn't take that long with an appt.

2. If you're doing a walk-in, always be prepared with a valid excuse and/or supporting documents as to why you can't make it on scheduled day. You just might be unfortunate to have a less than friendly experience with a disgruntled representative. But, based on reviews i've read, those experiences are extremely rare. That's why I took the plunge and drove 2.5 hrs with hope and a prayer.

Hey! Another QCA-ish person. :) *waves*

Yeah, that drive to Des Moines is pretty awful. I just filed last week, so I won't be going there til next month I guess. But it's like a whole day gone, and depending on what time my appointment is, I might have to go by myself or see if a friend can go with me, with my husband's work schedule being what it is.

Have any June filers attempted to sign up on uscis.gov for updates on their case and check the status on their case?

We tried and it said the receipt number wasn't recognized. Everything else seems fine - we got the one year extension letter and biometrics appt, and husband had biometrics and all was fine. Figured we'd sign up for alerts/updates, etc. and was surprised it says case can't be found. Anyone else?

Thanks.

You use the receipt number on the Biometric notice, not on the NOA1. It will work.

Hi everyone!!

Just wanted to say that I keep waiting for an email notification from someone who got their app approved! Then I will know the ball has started to move for our group!!

I feel like it could be any day but I think we still have 2 more months :(

My H got his fingerprints done in July ... And so far no communication and no interview notice! I'm hoping we won't have to deal with an interview since we haven't received any notice of one yet. I'm also hoping that there weren't any errors with the application since we haven't heard anything yet :)

Hope everyone is doing well... My theory is at this point it isn't a big deal since we can apply for his citizenship starting in April right? I think it is 3 years from the date of receipt of the greencard?

Ok wish you all a great week :)

You must go to the USCIS website and file the AR-11 form. They will send you a notice in the mail (new address)stating that they've updated your address. Do you have a case pending?

The Vermont Service Center is way behind. It could take up to 8.5 months to back your GC.

We had bio in July too and haven't heard a thing, so don't feel too bad. :) I figure for now, no news is good news. x3

You can apply for citizenship after you have been married 3+ years.
