The nation is progressing. I know people would love to think it isn't, but it simply is. A President coming out for gay marriage is, in this country, a pretty big deal. And a poll showing that more than half of the people polled agree with him is also a big deal. I know there are people who love to sit here and compare it to something ridiculous like marrying a dog or a television or some other nonsense, but that's simply not the way the majority of this nation is thinking anymore.

But anyway, back to the spewing of the hatred and the advocating parents to punch their children if they're gay. Yeehaw.

I never advocated anything. The only thing I adovocate is to remove marriage from government and then it really wouldn't be anyone's business. As long as marriage is a function of the government however, it is everyone's business. After all, 'we' are the government.

Polling as I said is skewed. What polling says in NYC or LA is going to be quite different from a poll in Des Moines or San Antonio. Unless you take the same pool sample each and every time, you're going to get varying results. Pollsters purposefully poll certain areas just to skew results and then place it in the hands of the media like it's some big thing.

The exact same people DIE over a long enough course of time! Even if they are pig-headed, homophobic rednecks!

A few people are actually open-minded enough to change and evolve their opinions over time.

The real change occurs with a new, more enlightened generation!

Beating an idea into people's heads does not make them 'enlightened.' It just means people finally got sick of hearing about it.

Bravo, Why_Me! Well said! I think you will find many members agreeing with your statement. It's refreshing to see a gentleman holding the sanctity of marriage in such high regard:

Kira won't let me out of her sight when were over there. I tried to play sick once when she was going to take a 45 min. bus ride to see her family. I told her I was going to stay at the apt. because I didn't feel well, and that I would just sleep it off. This was late in the morning. So anyways she heads out to the bus station via subway (or so I thought), and I change clothes, throw on some cologne and head out the door to the cafe thinking "alls safe". I mean 30 min must have passed by so she should have been well on her way by then....or so I thought. I round the corner of the apt. building to get a taxi and who's there with a smile (not a good one) on her face ? Man she read me like a book, and I knew I was screwed. All she said was for me to shut my mouth, and go along with her to visit her family. I kept my mouth shut for the entire bus trip. She didn't go off on my until we got back to the apt.

Her being my MIL makes it that much more twisted and that much more of a total down and dirty turn on. That mini skirt says to me; "Here and now!"
