Thank you God. I have been waiting for this day for ever. I got my petition approved on Monday but i just received my email this morning!! So excited! The only problem is that I just started working on Monday too:) I am going to be receiving $400 weekly which sums up to $19,200 yearly but on my previous tax returns, I was making less than $15,000. Does anyone know if this will be a problem?

Current income is what qualifies you as sponsor, so you meet the minimum requirements for a household of two. While NOT meeting the minimum assures you don't qualify, simply meeting the minimum does not assure you DO qualify.

By the way, 400 a week times 52 weeks = 20,800, not 19,200.

Thanks for the correction. But i am confused about "meeting the minimum does not assure yo do qualify" What do you mean by that. I am living with my parents at this time though and I don't know if that is going to be a problem. Both my parents work but they were receiving government assistance but will no longer be because my mother got a full time job now and their income together will add up to $32,000 yearly but they have three kids and my older sister also lives with us and her two children but she is married? don't know how to go about that

I meant exactly what I said. They are making a judgment call about the public charge concern. They'll consider the totality of circumstances in making that call. Take what I wrote literally. Squeaking by is no guarantee they will decide you qualify.

You won't be "sure" of anything until your spouse has a visa in hand. The actual judgment call is made no sooner than the visa interview. There's nobody to "call" to "make sure" of anything regarding the public charge issue.
