By your logic, if the law is that simple regarding the firing of a firearm while committing a felony, by that alone, regardless of the fact that the firing of the gun was a homicide, Zimmerman could get 20 years! If the prosecution can convince a jury that Zimmerman verbally or physically threatened Martin (assault, a felony!) he too should get at least 20 years in a Florida prison!

Not hardly. Zimmerman is facing 2nd degree murder which he will beat. They have to prove that he didn't shoot Martin in self defense. Him stalking Martin isn't a crime and him asking Martin questions after he called 911 isn't a crime. Physically attacking another human being though is a crime and on top of that there's always a chance that human being may be armed and may shoot you. Martin learned that rule the hard way.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Previously unknown particulars, including the scrape on Martin's knuckle and photos of Zimmerman's battered and swollen face -- which were taken moments after he shot and killed Martin in what he says was self defense -- coupled with eyewitness accounts that back up Zimmerman's story, suggest for some that the prosecutor overreached.

I have yet to see a photo where he is battered and swollen on his face. For crying out loud..he doesn't even appear to have a black eye. They might want to try to photoshop something if they are leaning heavily on that evidence. :bonk:

I've seen worse injuries in a girl fight. At least Zimmerman didn't have a weave.

Yep. Those injuries are not consistent with his claim of having his head being bashed into concrete.

There are two pieces of evidence that apparently are the most damaging to Zimmerman's defense - his official statement to police that night and his re-enactment. We may never know exactly how it went down that night, but one thing is more certain - it didn't happen the way Zimmerman claims.

That looks like Martin died on a grassy lawn? I thought he was beating Zimmerman's head into cement?

Good observation.

That looks like it might be a sidewalk in the picture but he is a good distance from it. Perhaps the body had been moved in the "investigation".

Yeah, the picture's pretty dark, I can't tell what's right beside the lawn.

I'm still waiting for you to show me where Obama said this was self defense.

wth are you even talking about? Obama's part on this bs was a big one. He came out with that #######; "If I had a son he would have looked like Trayvon...." and then sent that criminal Eric Fast & Furious Holder down to Florida to make a case where there was none. Lets not forget that Obama and Jesse Jackson go way back from his days in Chicago.

If Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Eric Holder, and Barak Hussein Obama say it couldn't have been self defense then to h*ll with the facts.

I've asked you numerous times for links to where Obama said it couldn't have been self defense.

In reality, he said it should be fully investigated. You have access to quotes I haven't seen obviously, so I'd like to read them. That's all.

In fairness, the body is close enough to where the walkway was, however, that walkway is narrow and it seems difficult to be able to deliberately try to throw somebody's head onto that concrete. Zimmerman's jacket and head had grass stains. If Martin did in fact knock Zimmerman to the ground (in spite of weighing a good 40lbs less), Zimmerman's head could have made contact with the sidewalk, but then the impact would have shown more severe injuries. It could have been where Zimmerman simply lost his footing and fell backward, but broke his fall. But in any case, the scuffle seems mild at best when considering the injuries to both parties. Someone could then argue that Zimmerman acted quickly and with lethal force at that point, but then why the long drawn out screams for help? If Zimmerman was yelling for help that long because he feared for his life, why didn't he draw his gun and shoot Martin sooner? Because the two were struggling to grab his gun? I don't think they found any of Martin's DNA on the gun or holster though. There's just too many holes in Zimmerman's account of what happened that night.

I am not so sure he will beat the rap. Invoking self-defense is an 'affirmative' defense I am told, and the burden is then on the defendant to offer proof that was the case! Some stalking IS a crime! What it will boil down to is what they can convince the most racist of twelve jurors actually happened sufficient to convict a non-black of killing a black! He might walk!
