Hey Shawna,

Jay-Kay replied on your other post and gave you more info; however, you may want to ask in the Regional part of the forum for Jamaica, because at this stage it's Embassy specific and others might guide you better.

I have never heard of someone using a tax transcript. They specifically ask for Tax returns, use your judgement with the pay stubs, maybe 3 months worth? You decide. If you think there is vital information on both sides of the Birth Certificate, then you should copy both sides. Good Luck

When using a tax return transcript, all the info is contained in it from the IRS and there is no need to provide a W-2. However, I have read the requirements for the Jamaica consulate, and they state 1040 and W-2s. Having a tax transcript from the IRS should be okay though. It is actually preferred by USCIS. Call or email the consulate and ask them if you can use the tax return transcript from the IRS instead.

Yes, you can have the IRS fax the transcript. You can also go into a local IRS office and have them print out transcripts while you wait.

I agree with Jay-Kay - Tax Transcripts should be okay. They are free from the IRS. They take upto 10 days to receive. If you want the IRS to pull your actual tax file, those cost $57 each. Good Luck Shawna!! Keep it moving!

Hello. I needed clarification on this as well and I emailed the embassy in Jamaica directly and they informed me you MUST send in an official tax transcript from the IRS. They take 5-10 days to reach, HOWEVER, if there is a federal tax office in your area, and you can check the www.irs.gov website, then you can go in and pick up the tax transcript THE SAME DAY. Hope this helps.
