The media made a big deal out of Trayvon Martin having weed in his system, but they continue to discount what George Zimmerman had in his body.

Last week when Zimmerman’s medical records were released, it was revealed that he was on the prescription drug Temazepam.

Temazepam, also known as Restoril, is known to cause insomnia and anxiety; however there are more important side effects that were not mentioned.

According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, the drug is also known to cause “aggressiveness” and “hallucinations,” among other problematic symptoms.

As Reported by the U.S. NLM:

After taking Temazepam, patients should not be walking around trying to watch anything or anyone. They are cautioned that if they do not sleep for at least 7-8 hours after taking the drug, they may experience memory loss.

Zimmerman was also on the often-abused prescription drug Adderall, which is known to cause "worsening mental or mood problems (eg, aggression, anxiety, delusions, depression, hallucination, hostility)."

How will this affect the case? According Newsone who spoke with Steven J. Topazio, Attorney-at-Law, voluntary drug use does not excuse criminal acts:

"Defendants who commit crimes under the influence of drugs sometimes argue that their mental functioning was so impaired that they should not be held accountable for their conduct.

Generally, however, voluntary impairment does not excuse criminal conduct, since people know or should know that drugs affect mental functioning, and they should therefore be held legally responsible if they commit crimes as a result of their voluntary use.

An exception to this rule may exist in cases involving a crime that requires “specific intent,” in which the offender must have intended the precise result that occurred but arguably could not have formed that intent in his or her drugged state.

The prescription drugs that Zimmerman were taking had much more dangerous affects than a little bit of marijuana.

The question to ask is if he was on the drugs at the time. The police messed up and didn't test him.

The police didn't do a lot of things initially, which is large part of the uproar by the public over how this incident was handled, including letting him go without any plans for further investigation. That's where some legitimately question whether race played a part in how the police handled things. There's comments made by several of the police that night who were already injecting their own conclusions about what happened while talking to the witnesses. It's really sad but probably true that had it been Martin who shot Zimmerman, the police would have handled it differently.

Do you seriously not recognize a joke when you see one?

I see one now.

  • you should know that this medication may make you drowsy during the daytime. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you.
  • do not drink alcohol during your treatment with temazepam. Alcohol can make the side effects of temazepam worse.
  • tell your doctor if you use tobacco products. Cigarette smoking may decrease the effectiveness of this medication.
  • you should know that some people who took medications for sleep got out of bed and drove their cars, prepared and ate food, had sex, made phone calls, or were involved in other activities while partially asleep. After they woke up, these people were usually unable to remember what they had done. Call your doctor right away if you find out that you have been driving or doing anything else while you were sleeping.
  • you should know that your mental health may change in unexpected ways while you are taking this medication. It is hard to tell if these changes are caused by temazepam or if they are caused by physical or mental illnesses that you already have or suddenly develop. Tell your doctor right away if you experience any of the following symptoms: aggressiveness, strange or unusually outgoing behavior, hallucinations (seeing things or hearing voices that do not exist), feeling as if you are outside of your body, memory problems, difficulty concentrating, new or worsening depression, thinking about killing yourself, confusion, and any other changes in your usual thoughts, mood, or behavior. Be sure that your family knows which symptoms may be serious so that they can call the doctor if you are unable to seek treatment on your own.

Unfortunately they don't.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

And then, there is Adderall:

you should know that this medication may make it difficult for you to perform activities that require alertness or physical coordination. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you.

Zimmerman was having trouble sleeping, so he was taking a drug that causes sleepwalking and memory loss, because he was taking amphetamines to keep his brain functioning within norms. He was basically speedballing, and they let him walk around in the world with a loaded weapon concealed on his person. How screwed up is that!

Genelex will be happy to mail information to you or to your healthcare provider on your behalf, simply complete the request form.

Different people taking Skittles often have very different reactions. One person may tolerate Skittles well but not get the desired effect, another may have side effects or adverse reactions that make Skittles intolerable, and yet another may get the desired effect with no side effects. These variations in response and side effects are caused by many variables, but genetic variation and metabolism-based drug, herbal, and food interactions are among the most common.

If Skittles is a major or exclusive substrate for CYP2D6, CYP2C9, CYP2C19, CYP1A2, NAT2, or DPD; DNA testing can be ordered that can help your healthcare provider predict your response to this medication. To determine if testing may be advisable call 800-523-3080 and ask for DNA Drug Sensitivity Testing information. GeneMedRx access is included with each DNA test so your healthcare providers can predict the cumulative effect of metabolism variables of concurrent medications, DNA test results, over-the-counters, foods, herbals, and other relevant patient factors.
