GM my dear VJ friends :D

Even though we are ready for the interview, (my fiance only needs his medical exam/vaccines done, police certificate, and banco popular receipts), there are some questions I need to ask in regards to that day. If you guys can help me with these questions (some may be absurd) or even any personal input / advice will be highly appreciated!

Dress code & children

1. Business casual is fine for adults, but do children have to wear closed toe shoes for the interview? Or can they be open toe?

2. Does it get hot in there?

3. Is it true that they allow families with children (toddler in my case) to get in first? & Am I allowed to bring inside her bottle or no drinks from outside allowed?

Interview questions & concerns

I have read 90% of the embassy reviews and I have found alot of helpful information. But I still have these questions.

1. The banco popular receipts can only be paid the business day before the interview? Or it can be paid a few days before the interview?

2. Could they ask me questions about why I was born in Puerto Rico? I really wouldn't want to involve my parents journey from Higuey to Puerto Rico. Even though my mother is a USC and my dad a Permanent US Resident..

3. My fiance and I met in person in 2009, we don't have any pictures because I was dating someone here and he was seeing someone out there, we only kept in contact through MSN, we didn't start dating until August 2011. Do you think this may create some red flags and have them think it's too soon to get married since we got engaged in October 2011? I have traveled 4 times in the last 8 months and has met the majority of my family (he has pictures with them including my mom, aunts, uncles, grandmom, etc.) Hopefully that helps.

4. I don't have any copies of my boarding passes, just the receipts, is it okay with just showing proof of the passport stamps?

- I can't think of anything else I need to ask..I know these questions may have been answered before but I could use some peace of mind

If you guys can help me with these questions (some may be absurd) or even any personal input / advice will be highly appreciated!

Dress code & children

1. Business casual is fine for adults, but do children have to wear closed toe shoes for the interview? Or can they be open toe?

I am pretty sure children can wear whatever they want.

2. Does it get hot in there?

There are fans, we did not get hot at all.

3. Is it true that they allow families with children (toddler in my case) to get in first? & Am I allowed to bring inside her bottle or no drinks from outside allowed?

I saw some families cut the line due to being with children. I also saw some that were still standing in line with kids. So I'm not totally positive about this. I am sure if you ask to get in sooner they will let you in. That is why I recommend not getting there extremely early, since there is really no point. As far as her bottle: they were not letting adults bring in regular drinks but since she's a child they will probably let her in with her bottle

Interview questions & concerns

I have read 90% of the embassy reviews and I have found alot of helpful information. But I still have these questions.

1. The banco popular receipts can only be paid the business day before the interview? Or it can be paid a few days before the interview?

We payed ours a few days before the interview. I think for K-1 visa it's the same and it does not need to be one business day before the interview.

2. Could they ask me questions about why I was born in Puerto Rico? I really wouldn't want to involve my parents journey from Higuey to Puerto Rico. Even though my mother is a USC and my dad a Permanent US Resident..

I dont see why they would ask about this. It's irrelevant to the interview.

This we already spoke about, again, I would not worry about it if I were you. I think you guys are good.

4. I don't have any copies of my boarding passes, just the receipts, is it okay with just showing proof of the passport stamps?

Stamps is what they will want to see.

- I can't think of anything else I need to ask..I know these questions may have been answered before but I could use some peace of mind

Regarding it being to hot there, it depends if there will be a lot of people there. First time was not bad, second time for k2 it was horrible inside. Dress her comfortably.

Dont worry about it being to soon to get marry. I got engaged in February 2011 and married december 2011. Talk about fast lol, but its all about the relationship you have.

pay banco popular fee any time.

Good luck and just relax and really dont get there too early because although you may get them to let you in early, numbers are call in a very random order.

Great advice. Getting there early is pointless. Numbers are called by random order. This is important ESPECIALLY since you will be traveling with a child, and they get very restless.

- I can't think of anything else I need to ask..I know these questions may have been answered before but I could use some peace of mind

i dont think they wouldask you why were you born in PR... i was born in PR they never asked me why or how although my mom has been a legal immigrant since shes a little girl and she petitionedmy dad so i dont think they would ask yu anything about that but if they do just tell them whatever your truth is :)

wow this makes me feel so much better. that has been my only concern through out this process. I even began to wish I didn't send my petition so fast because of that..assuming the consulate will think it's too soon but thank God that's not the case.

Since my interview is set for 6:45AM, what time do you think I should get there by? More than likely we're driving there from his house since he doesn't live to far.

thanks for your advice! Really appreciate it :D

thanks love..and youre right but with this process EVERYTHING has been coming to my head and any little question that may be irrelevant to our relationship scares me lol
