TOP RIGHT-WING GROUP: Minority Births Are "Not A Good Thing," They "Don’t Share American Values"

Yesterday, the New York Times reported on new census data which showed, for the first time, that non-white births made up over 50 percent of all births in the United States last year.

It marked an important milestone, indicative of a changing United States that has long been considered the world's melting pot. Or, if you're the conservative, Phyllis Schlafly-backed Eagle Forum, it's a clarion call that America is in grave danger of being overrun by uneducated, un-American brown people:

It is not a good thing. The immigrants do not share American values, so it is a good bet that they will not be voting Republican when they start voting in large numbers.

[...]

Instead, the USA is being transformed by immigrants who do not share those values, and who have high rates of illiteracy, illegitimacy, and gang crime, and they will vote Democrat when the Democrats promise them more food stamps.

Setting aside for a minute the offensive way in which the Eagle Forum dismisses all of "the immigrants" as thoughtless criminals, it's telling that The Eagle Forum views this as simply a political problem. The Eagle Forum's political allies have long insisted on treating immigrants as second-class citizens, and rather than pivot their policy proposals to better accommodate the nation's shifting demographics, the group seems instead to want to curb minorities' procreation.

The Eagle Forum doesn't dwell on the fringes of the conservative movement either. The group still wields considerable influence in conservative circles, and has achieved more than a few legislative victories, like derailing the Equal Rights Amendment in the 1970s and staunchly opposing bills aimed at protecting a women's right to choose.

The post goes on to accuse immigrants — and, for reasons passing understanding, The New York Times for reporting on this — of seeking to "destroy the American family," arguing that immigrants do not share American values. Of course, this is hardly the first time The Eagle Foundation has pushed xenophobia.

Never heard of 'em. Top right-wing group.....sure. Must be something the progs on the website you linked whine about to each other.

BTW- I did follow your progressive whine site link through, and it turns out to be a blog by an individual....not some call to action by the aforementioned "top right-wing group."

Really? You never heard of the Eagle Forum? I knew who they were when I was a schoolgirl in pigtails. Then of course I was a red diaper baby raised by ungrateful commie pinkos who indoctrinated me nightly in the half-baked schemes of the left and the identification of right-wing organizations. I knew my John Birchers from my Moral Majority folk by the time I knew the entire pro-union songbook of the early 20th century.

Ah, those songs bring back good memories.

The site is right about one thing. Democrats prey on people in poor areas purposefully to gain votes and offer program to keep them down, not boost them up.

There's a reason why the party of the KKK acts the way it does, and that's because it's the only way it can stay relevant. The Demcorat party is still the part it has always been and always will be. Food stamps don't help people. They hinder people. You want to 'help' people? Create job training programs and help people find jobs. Don't hold them back by offering hand outs.

Dems love their Marion Barry's, Al Sharpton's, and Jesse Jacskon's of this world. Keep people from working and then blame everyone else. The good thing to come out of all of this is that the country is going broke and soon enough the welfare ride is going to come to an end. Rome went down and the US is going the same way of Rome.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

The one thing we missed in this story was "corrective information".

Certain claims were made such as:

the USA is being transformed by immigrants who do not share those values, and who have high rates of illiteracy, illegitimacy, and gang crime, and they will vote Democrat when the Democrats promise them more food stamps

Are they in fact less likely to claim the American flag as their sole loyalty?

Are they more likely to be illiterate... which translates "taker" rather than giver?

Are they more likely to be in gangs and crime?

Or have more fatherless children which become wards of the state and then... the criminal justice system?

Do they in fact vote for the candidates which promise more govt dependency or less?

Political correctness is ignoring or refusing to accept a truth which goes against a contrived reality or Othrodoxy.

Now I didn't read the original article but I highly doubt it referred to "all" minorities or all immigrants.

When we speak of public policy or political trajectories we speak in general or in the predominate.

Q: Were the statement she made true or not.

Q: if they are true is she wrong to make projections from them?

Why must murder be the first course of action with you folks?

I prefer the much more civilized and logical route of sensible immigration and protection of our borders that our national composition will maintain it's historical balance.

Not that I don't appreciate the well thought out comments but.... why not answer the questions?
