Does a LPR wait longer than USC for an interview at embassy?

Does this always happen?

LPR's are only allowed a certain number of family visas a year. You wait in line to get a visa number , once you have a number available then your time at the consulate will be the same. The wait is after petition approval to getting a visa number and it is normally about 3 years for a spouse.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Your question is a little confusing. LPR's and US citizens rarely have a need to be interviewed by a consular officer.

Every family based visa that an LPR can petition for is a "family preference" visa. US citizens can petition for some "immediate relative" visas and some "family preference" visas. The difference between the two is that there is an annual cap on the number of family preference visas that can be issued in each category, while there is no limit on the number of immediate relative visas that can be issued. There is almost always more people waiting for a visa in a particular family preference category then the number of visas available, so there's a waiting list. The length of time someone spends on the waiting list depends on how long the list is compared to the number of visas available each year.

There's also a per-country limit on family preference visas. No country can receive more than 7% of the total number of visas in any family preference category in any year. This makes the effective waiting time longer in some countries and in some family preference visa categories.

Only US citizens can petition for immediate relative visas, which include spouses, parents, and minor unmarried children. The wait for those visas is only as long as it takes to get the petition approved and get through the consulate interview.

I mean if a LPR was to file an i130, get approved and get a 'case complete,' from NVC, does it take longer for him to get a interview scheduled than it would for a USC?

That was my question.

Thanks for the answers.
