We just checked the USCIS web site and my wife has been approved for her Travel Document and EAD....here's my question....the USCIS site says this in regards to her travel doc:

"On May 17, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I131 APPLICATION FOR USCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT. Please follow any instructions on the notice."

What are the instructions that are usually included? Does this mean the travel document will not be in the package they send? Can she go someplace immediately after receiving that notice to pick up that document?

We have a trip planned to the Dominican Republic June 8 so fingers crossed we get it before then!!!

I do believe it can take up to 30 days to receive the EAD/AP card. Your time line is incomplete. If you could update your timeline we can provide a more accurate answer.

i don't remember what the 'instructions' said but they mail the doc to you with the instructions. you don't have to go anywhere and pick it up ..

If you applied for AP and EAD at the same time, you will likely receive a single Employment Authorization Card. Make sure that this card is labelled "Serves as I-512 Advance Parole" on the bottom. If so, you can travel on it right away.

They always say follow any instructions on the notice, but it doesn't mean anything. I think you will likely get the card before your trip. Otherwise, I think USCIS will sometimes issue advance parole on an urgent basis if you make an InfoPass appointment with a local office, but I'm not sure if you qualify or not.

I always found it took anywhere from 5-10 days to get the card in the mail after being approved.
