Well, when the lead investigator's sworn statement says that this shooting was instigated by Zimmerman's actions that night, his lawyer will have his work cut out for him in convincing the jurors that in spite of his actions, he reasonably felt his life was in danger by a scrawny, unarmed teenager, holding a glass bottle and trying to pummel him to death without using that bottle. A weak argument at best.

What "lead investigator" swore to such? From the Sanford PD? If you're merely speculating, that's fine, but the State Attorney's Office investigator Dale Gilbreath had something very different to say the day of the bail hearing when questioned by Zimmerman's lawyer.

"However, Gilbreath went on to state he did not know who started the fight that evening and he did not have evidence as to who initiated the altercation."

The original lead investigator is the one he refers to I believe.

His statements:

But the original lead detective in the case believed Zimmerman caused the fight by getting out of his vehicle to confront Martin, who wasn't doing anything criminal, and then could have defused the situation by telling Martin he was just a concerned citizen and tried to talk to him. He didn't think Zimmerman could legally invoke Florida's "stand your ground" law and should be charged with manslaughter.

SANFORD, Fla. - A lead investigator into the shooting of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin wanted to charge neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman with manslaughter, according to a report from ABC News.

The news agency said they confirmed the information from 'multiple sources.'

The state attorney's office, headed by Norman Wolfinger, told investigator Chris Serino that there was not enough evidence to press charges.

Serino filed an affidavit on Feb. 26, the night Martin was shot and killed by Zimmerman, saying he did not believe Zimmerman's version of events.

One interesting aspect on the 44th page of the documents released is that Christopher Serino, the lead investigator at the scene concluded that there was "probable cause" to charge Zimmerman with manslaughter.

http://www.mediaite....h-manslaughter/

'Avoidable'

"The encounter between George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin was ultimately avoidable by Zimmerman, if Zimmerman had remained in his vehicle and awaited the arrival of law enforcement or conversely if he had identified himself to Martin as a concerned citizen and initiated dialog(sic) in an effort to dispel each party's concern," lead investigator Chris Serino swore in a March 13 statement. "There is no indication that Trayvon Martin was involved in any criminal activity at the time of the encounter."

His conclusion: probable cause for manslaughter.

Also, let us not forget that Zimmerman has MANYYY incidents of previous past aggressive , out of control behavior. Personally, I think he was off his rocker. His history of cuckoo behavior will come out with witness testimony and a broader picture of his character will be revealed. How he ever got into the police academy is such a mystery to me...well except the fact that his dad was a former supreme court judge. Check this out.

The police really bungled this investigation on many fronts. One example, is that they did not test Zimmerman that night for any drugs, yet those two prescription drugs he takes for anxiety and ADHD can have a profound effect on behavior and judgment. In fact, his lawyer may try to use that as his defense, but yeah, when you take into account his past aggressive behavior, it paints a picture of a loose cannon.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I think calling it "the" police academy leaves the wrong impression.

It is 14 weeks but only one day a week and that day is 3 1/2 hours.

Seems more like Community outreach than anything else

LOL I'm sorry but I just got a mental picture of Zimmerman observing the 911 center.

"The 911 operator picks up the call. What is your emergency?"

Yes, there's a suspicious person in my training class.. I'm tracking the suspect now...

Ok but seriously... From everything I've read it's been called the police academy that he had enrolled in. How are you sure it's this one they referred to and not the certification program?

The teen on the left was using self-defense from the crazy, drugged out, paranoid, "they always get away," racist, "history of violent crimes even against police" Zimmerman. Thanks for the pic.

I'm not getting ya. Are you trying to say Trayvon Martin was a racist?

This is the picture that is going to give the prosecution trouble. As well as multiple witnesses that actually saw Trayvon on top hitting Zimmerman and called 911. I've heard the tape of the girlfriend giving the story. Most of what she says is what she thought was going on or what she assumed. You can pick and choose from typed text and it will look a lot more believable than when you hear what she said. I'm sure there's a lot we don't know, so personally I'm reserving judgement until I hear whats actually presented at trial.
