Hopefully. I'm sick. How did I miss that?? I read the instructions numerous times.

Also, Since I checked "single" in question 6 for him I didn't see the need to place anything in question 7. So that is another blank.

How can I contact them in advance? Can I do this once I receive NOA1??

You can't contact USCIS about the petition. Instead, you'll have to wait to see if you receive an RFE notice.

Well when I submitted my I-129 form initially . .I did not check the box that I was divorced although I did send in a copy of my divorce dismissal. My entire package was returned including my check. I checked the divorced box and resubmitted immediately. It was accepted at that point and I received my first NOA1.

You can do what mimolicious did, once you receive your NOA (that will have your case number on it) ... call them and ask them what you can do. If they let you send in a letter, great. But don't be surprised if a) you send it and it doesn't get matched up to your case or b) they tell you to just wait until someone reviews the petition.

It's not the end of the world. We're human, we make mistakes. It could just be looked over and approved anyway, it could be an RFE (which isn't a big deal, really) ... who knows. Good luck. :)

this is NOT true. I contacted the USCIS by phone after my NOA1 because I made a mistake on one of the questions. The advised me to send a letter stating what the mistake was and they told me the address to send it to. I did not receive any RFE after I sent the letter, and our petition was approved after only 3 months.

Like anything else, just because one person was successful doesn't mean everyone else will be.

true..but you told her she had to wait for an RFE...and that is not true at all...trust me..been there, done that...even if they say no...at least she tried. For me it worked in my favor. It worth calling and not having to sit waiting and worrying

I would disagree. Even if she does call and they tell her to send a letter, what if it doesn't get matched up to her petition? Then, she will get an RFE. So yes, there will be some worrying in the meantime.

I concur with LeftCoastLady. From my own perspective, I knew that I would drive myself insane doing the "coulda...woulda..shoulda" and trying to "second-guess myself" manners of thought, waiting and worrying right after I mailed the initial petition. From my own life experiences, I realized I had to submit a petition that was as "bullet-proof" as I could make it the first time. For me, it just came down to basics, have a plan of action, be patient, read and heed all of the instructions very carefully. When I completed the petition, I put it away for a couple of days, then went back and reviewed the entire document for errors of omission and commission. When I submitted my petition, I was satisfied and confident that I had done the best job on it that I could. The result.....NO RFEs !!!!

YMMV

Samething happened to me ! lol I was surprised to see the whole package in the mail, they even returned the check. I lost a week or so for that. So our friend needs to relax and wait for USCIS instrutions.

Don't bother to call since a case or receipt number is needed to look it up on the database and that comes in NOA1.

did you have to write a letter? did you contact the USCIS about your petition? NO...listen to me. They matched up the letter...all you need to do is put the case number on the letter. Why be argumentative? she came here asking for advice, i gave it to her...it worked for me. I don;t care if you disagree. I did it, and it it worked. Why are you even speculating that it may not be matched up? You are making her worry needlessly, putting far fetched notions in her head...I am stating facts, you are merely speculatingheadbonk.gif
