Hello! I've been in the U.S. for two weeks now on a K1 visa and I haven't gotten married yet. My question is regarding my social security number. I once came to America on a J1 visa and had a social security card issued. When do I have to go to the Social Security Administration Office and why?!

I've read a million things, from updating my address with them to getting a new number and not getting a new number, this is why I'm asking. I don't know if I keep my card (and number) and then go remove the restriction on it when the green card is issued or if I have to go to to their office for any reason.

Your number is yours forever. I would go and update your status and get an unrestricted card once you get your Greencard.

AOS for my husband

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
