Packet 3 question

Hi,

I got an information from NVC that our petition has been shipped to the embassy in Warsaw yesterday. I tried the DHL trick and indeed, there is one package sent with Poland as its destination (EXP 15 MAY 2012A), so there is a fair chance it might be ours. Now, my question is how soon can I e-mail them my Packet 3? I already have DS-230 Part I + IV-F04 forms completed, just waiting for a chance to date and sign them. Can I send them as soon as I see it has been signed for on the DHL site? Or should I wait a few more days?

The reason why I ask is the fact, that from what I know, in Warsaw the interviews for given month are scheduled within the last week of the preceeding month. According to DHL data, that package might be delivered on Friday. So, basically, sending packet 3 a few days later might shift the interview date from June to July, which I wouldn't like to see happening

All advice welcome

Cheers!

You can look at my wife's timeline. It was 2 1/2 years ago, but I doubt much have changed since.

I faxed them the checklist and DS-230 on 10/13 from the US, asking in fax cover for an interview in late October or early November because I was going to be in Poland during that period.

They accomodated my request and the interview was on 10/28.

Good luck!

That sounds like a great idea. Maybe I'll just ask for a June interview date in the e-mail. Do they reply to the e-mail you send the forms with?

Cheers!

I faxed them the forms. The interview date request was on the fax cover sheet. No, they have not responded, just set the interview date.

I would wait a little after your package arrives in Warsaw. The fact that it arrived doesn't mean they have opened it and logged into the system.

Since you already have your WRW number (from NVC), you can start calling the State Department to see if they have the case in their system.

------------

Department of State

They have all records of when petition is sent out from NVC to embassy and also have records of when embassy sends out/receives packet 3, 4, etc.

(202) 663-1225 press 1, then 0 for a live person

(202) 663-1225 options 1, 4, 1, 5, 0

------------

It takes 1-2 days for the Embassy to 'receive' in their systems. I'd be faxing now, with a cover that NVC has advised that petition has been send and estimated time of arrival is xx/xx (you can see this in the DHL site). Then, do the medical this coming Monday (Friday if possible) and ensure you have all other things (birth cert, divorce to prior marriage, police cert, etc. The medical includes X-ray and STD test (at different places; it' all in the Embassy site).

Do not wait for packet 3 or 4; there is no need, in fact, our packet 3 was lost in the post and luckily I called in because I needed to ask something and when I asked packet 3 by e-mail) they told me I could send the forms (that are posted in their web site, without waiting)

You might make it to the June inteviews; from our experience, they would be arranging interviews the week of the 28th, so you still have 1 week and couple of days. Good luck.

If it's sent (or prepared to be picked up, pick up date is often the day after), I'd call NVC for the case number (different to what you had in NOA1), it will start with WRW if I recall; that number is required in the form you would send as the reply to packet 3, and is also needed for the medical and other tests. As I said before, it takes a couple of days to be received in the system after physically received. Embassy does not usually reply (or at least they do not reply that quickly); they post the interview roll in their site BTW; you should see it on the 1st. Not that obvious where it is, try a search with "Interview" and it would be unmistakable; interviews are posted by WRW case number, since your petitio is end of month, chances are your interview would be past the middle of month, even around the 20th I'd think.

The bad news is that you might not make the cut for June (it is going to be very close call, tough I think there is enough time to make that happen; however, notice the 28th is Holiday in the US and hence at the Embassy, and they might start a long weekend on the 25th), but the good news is that July is a for sure (and at the beginning of month)

The number for the embassy in Warszawa (no charge for K-1 visas:

+(48) (22) 625 10 42

Monday through Friday, between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm (warsaw time). This operator assisted information is unavailable on American and Polish public holidays.

But you have to provide WRW number; you could call and advise them you are faxing paperwork for the petition and that you are really really appreciative to get an interview in June. I had called them twice and they seemed very nice and accommodating.

In my wife's case, it never made to that interview list posted on their website.

If you've read my first post in this thread, "packet 3" forms were faxed on 10/13 and the interview took place on 10/28.

Also, the OP already should have WRW case number from NVC.

If he doesn't, time to call NVC one more time; if he does, time to start calling DoS or (after a few days of package delivery at the consulate) communicate with the IV Unit in Warsaw.

Thanks guys, a lot of precious info!

I already have the WRW number, I have been calling the NVC every day after a week had passed from the I-129F approval date. Also, I never intended on waiting for Packet 3 as I find it a waste of precious time - I have completed all the forms beforehand, which are ready to be sent to the embassy. Also, my preferred way of sending the forms is e-mail.

To sum up, after reading your entires, my current intention is to send the email with all the attachments today or tomorrow and write in it that my case number is WRW..., the documents are currently en-route from NVC to the embassy and should be received by them on this friday, 5/18. I will also ask for an interview date in June. I hope this works out!

Cheers!

I wouldn't send the IV forms until sure that the case is logged at the consulate. But it is of course your choice.

Our experience is from about 1 year ago, and of course it could've changed; but in any case, I'd call the Embassy and let them know I would be sending the IV forms "ahead" of logging the petition. First thing they might ask is the case number (the WRW) and you can go from there. As I had noted, our packet 3 was lost and when I called to ask other questions they told it had been sent and we should've received; so I then ask if they can send a new one; they said no, just send the forms from the web site and to "not lose time" as they were going to schedule before end of month for the entire next month and I could be waiting 1 more month. Of course, at this point, our case was already logged; but the conversation (i asked other questions) seemed to hint that in reality I could've sent the forms the minute I knew the petition had been sent from NVC (they seemed to be aware of the DHL trick)

Wow, that is FAST!

DHL trick showed that the petition was received by the embassy on May 18th. The very same day I decided to sent packet 3 in via e-mail and not wait a single day longer. Yesterday we landed in Warsaw and after a few minutes I got an e-mail that my forms have been received, my case updated and they will be mailing packet 4 to me soon and that's when I'll learn the interview date. Today, around 3pm, right before I entered the X-Ray/bloodwork facility, I got a phone call from the embassy. They called me to ask me if June 8th would be a good day for the interview. I was like... WOW, yeah, sure! So, 6/8 is my interview date - exactly 3 weeks from when they received paperwork from NVC. 164 days from NOA1. That's so freaking awesome :D

Cheers!

Congrats!

A good example of how things can be sped up when petitioner is on top of things and have the right info! Happy for you guys!
