Anchorage Field Office- SUCCESS!

I am actually from Juneau originally. I inquired about my case and they said that since Juneau is a remote area, the circuit ride going to our city is going to take a longer time and THEY SUGGESTED that I go to Anchorage (which is the field office for Juneau) to do a walk-in biometrics. So I took the risk without knowing, and I showed them the letter which told me to do a walk-in. They happily assisted me.

Boston's is a pain in the ### (confirmed reading the list); I can't remember the date for my original AOS but they denied my early walk-in then (with a mighty two people sitting in the room). The last time I went it was heaving and it was obvious nobody would be getting in early then either.

There's that smell again...

Norfolk, VA - 5 days early. Security guard noticed the appointment date and I told her we couldn't make it on that day and we're moving in two weeks so we're trying to get it done now. We went in the afternoon based on it typically not being as busy (there was only one other person waiting). It took about 15 minutes.

I was in and out in about 25 minutes. I was told that I shouldn't really be doing this and not to do it again but at least they saw me. I didn't give any reason for wanting an earlier appt. MASSACHUSETTS
Boston - I took my wife for her scheduled biometrics appointment on 1/14/14. In an effort to get some info for this thread I asked the woman at the front desk if they allow early walk-ins, this was her reply: "It depends on what the reason is. If you legitimately need to come at an earlier date they will allow it, but if you just walk in for no apparent reason, they may not."
Boston - Tried to do early walk in for my appointment in Lawrence, told them I worked in Boston and would have to take time off to go to Lawrence. They told me I'd have to come back on the day of my appointment, but I could do it in Boston. Still waiting to go back. - Not successful.
Lawrence - did an early walk in 3 weeks before my appointment. Just asked politely if it was ok as I was in the area that day anyway. They couldn't have been nicer. Naperville (abut 30 miles west of Chicago) - My appt was 8/13. Went on 8/30 at 2pm but was unsuccessful - only one technician on duty. I asked if there was any point in trying again and was told 'I can't tell you not to try again but to try earlier in the day'. I went on 8/1 at 11am and was seen after the 11am appts. I was in and out in about 25 minutes. I was told that I shouldn't really be doing this and not to do it again but at least they saw me. I didn't give any reason for wanting an earlier appt. I just said that I had been waiting so long during the whole K1 process, I would like to get a head start on AOS!

SUCCESSFUL in Phoenix, AZ

My initial appointment was Tue., Oct. 6 at 11 am, but I'll be out of town that week for a business trip. I received my appointment notice on Friday, Sept. 25. Since I read on this post that many offices allow walk-ins on Wed. and Sat., I decided to give it a shot the next day, Saturday, even though the USCIS website says this office is open Mon-Fri, 8 am-4 pm. Unsurprisingly, the office was closed. I tried again this morning (Monday), arrived at 7:50 am. The office was open, I gave no reason for showing up early, no questions asked. The security guards just made sure the name on my notice matched my ID. I was out in 20 min, didn't have time to read even a line of the book I brought just in case. The staff was very friendly and courteous.

ALABAMA
Birmingham, AL - The guard told us it was not our date. I told him that I had to work that date, but was off today. He give us a hard time, but finally agreed to let us through. Funny because there was only one other customer there. Successful.
