Visa Waiver Programme

Hi :)

First off really sorry if this is in the wrong part of the forum (still fairly new here :) ) I'm from Australia going over to to Memphis in July via LAX and just have a question about the visa waiver programme. I'm flying over around June 28 and was hoping to fly back home August 5th (havent booked tickets yet) only problem is my visa waiver expires July 27th. I'm flying in way before then (end of June) but does that mean I have to leave the US prior to July 27th?

Thanks in advance for any help and sorry again if this is in the wrong part of the forum :)

If you are not even in the USA yet, your visa waiver cannot have an expiry date. You are usually given 90 days at entry, but it may be less, depending on the immigration officer at the border. Do you mean your ESTA, ie the online registration? You can simply renew that now and it will be valid for another 2 years.

Yes sorry I meant the ESTA online registration :) (sorry I thought it was pretty much the same thing  )

If I don't renew it, because I am entering before July 27th is it alright to stay until August 5th? because I'd rather not pay a fee to lodge a new one unless I had too

You only need the ESTA to get into the US, so if it expires while you're here you won't have any problems, you'll still be able to stay the entire length of your visa waiver.
