I received my I-485 notice of action today and it also stated my biometrics appointment. My appointment will be on May 30. The problem is that my husband has to go to school that day. He only goes to school twice a month and skipping a school day is not tolerated. My mother-in-law might be able to accompany me. Is it okay to have someone else with me for my appointment or does my husband has to go with me?

You can go by yourself, your husband doesn't need to go with you to a biometrics appointment. It isn't an interview. It only takes 15 - 30 mins to finish the screening and fingerprinting.

It's not required to have your spouse with you. Good to have somebody there nonetheless. Especially if you're still trying to get used to the language. Maybe look up how successfully people have done walk-ins at that location, meaning you don't have to wait until the 30th. Make sure to bring all the documents needed. Esp. marriage certificate if you changed from maiden to married name.

Good luck :)

Well, I just found a post saying that OKC doesn't allow walk-ins. We will try to ask my mother-in-law tomorrow if she could accompany me. If she can't, we might need to reschedule my appointment :(

Oklahoma City DOES allow walk-ins if they are not too busy - I did one there myself in November last year. I didn't even need to give an explanation (didn't really have a good reason other than I wanted to get it over with) but if they question you, tell them your reason.
