Question. If beneficiary passport is lost after visa stamp, but prior to USA entry.

Is there a procedure to have embassy re-issue the visa stamp in the new passport?

Not lost yet...just planning for worst case scenarios

Thx

Scan your stamped passport, make a copy of it. You lost one, still have a copy. lost the copy, still in your computer.

why would you think you are going to lose it?? Think positive!... I don't know the procedure but I am sure it will be quite a hassle to get a new one issued.

Copies I do believe in.

Got a lot already

:P

Wonder if embassy would simply re-issue the visa or a lot more paperwork.......

Just thinking about it stresses me out

Me too!

After getting my wife her USA IV, we were planning transit through Japan. Unforntulanetly that requires us to surrender her passport to Japanese embassy in Jakarta for a week while the issue her a transit visa.

I am very very very hesitant to do that unless visa can be easily replaced.

I ever used my copy of travel document travelling IN/OUT of the states, no issues. So I assume you don't need them to re-issue, you maybe able just to use the copy -)

I suggest do not risk it... I lost my passport with F-1 student visa. It was...A LOT of trouble. I eventually went back to Japan and re-applied for it. But I mean it's not a student (non-immigrant) visa you're talking about....you're almost there! why you need to go to Japan!??? I cancelled my trip to Germany as well for the same exact reason...

Was planning on trip cgk-nrt-ord

For my Indonesian wife it requires the Japanese transit visa, but I don't really want her passport out of our control for a week at Japanese embassy
