AOS Interview Experience Fresno, CA on May 11 2012

The interview was scheduled at 12:30. We got there at 12pm, went through the security and were escorted to the 4th floor. We placed our appointment letter in a box and were asked to sit down. There was only 1 more person, not even a couple. We brought our 7-week-old baby to the interview. We waited about 30 minutes to be called. About 5 minutes before we went in, our son started crying very loud. I prayed he stopped. We gave him a bottle and he immediately fell asleep.

We got called in by the gentleman, in his fifties; very nice and professional. He made us swear to tell the truth and asked us to sit down. If I was to describe the entire interview in one word, I would have to say it was confusing. The reason I am saying this is because throughout the whole thing, he acted as if we were already approved, but then I saw he prepare "We will let you know letter", and then he said he would recommend approval to his supervisor. I thought it was only the case for the citizenship applications, but I guess I was wrong. Anyway, he didn't ask anything for almost 10 minutes. He did not ask absolutely anything about our relationship. First thing he asked my wife was her name and birthdate. Then he asked, if she wanted to change her name for her green card. He then asked 4 yes/no questions (arrests, terrorism, fraud and membership in any organizations). Then he asked her if she was a stay home mom or was working anywhere. My wife also put on her application that she had worked as a child therapist in Mexico, and the officer asked if she would like to continue her work in here. He also looked at her I-94 and asked if she left the USA after the date shown on I-94 (she said no). These were all the questions. He asked also for a birth certificate of our son, because he was born after we filed the application. He wrote down his information and handed the "we will let you know letter" and said he would recommend her for approval. He also asked if we were planning any trips in 3-5 weeks. We said no. He also said everything looked good and he didn't see any issues. He made copies of my ID and her passport. He kept her I-94 and the border crossing card (B1/B2 visa).

We walked out confused, asking ourselves: Are we approved? 3 hours later I got the email notification: Card production ordered. What a relief! I can sleep better.

05-09-2012 Received another notification "Card Production Ordered" for EAD.

05-10-2012 Received notification that EAD was mailed.

05-11-2012 AOS Interview at 12:30 no final decision

05-11-2012 Notification "Card production ordered" at 3:30 pm. APPROVED!!!!!!!

05-14-2012 Received EAD card in mail and I-130 approval notification

05-15-2012 Received hard copies of I-130 approval, welcome to USA letter and a notification that green card was sent

05-21-2012 Green Card Received!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

05-23-2012 Applied for SSN
