AOS Transferrees' Thread

I definitely don't think you have anything to lose by contacting a congressman or filing another service request. I filed another service request the same day I got that nonsense reply to the previous one, and I had also contacted a senator a few days prior to that. (I had already contacted the local congressman at around 5 months, late April I think) Plus, I had sent an email follow-up to the first service request since I hadn't received their letter within 15 days. Of course we'll never know what actually happened, but the CSC would've received the senator's inquiry a couple of days before they approved me. I figure if they don't "have the resources" to approve my case in time, I am being deprived of something that I am entitled to, and they will hear from me and are legally bound to find the resources to respond to my service requests and inquiries on my behalf.

Not that it really matters at this point but what was 11/25/11 your receipt date at the CSC? Or NBC?

Thanks for the feedback. That was with the NBC. They forwarded the file on 11-28, received in California 2011-12-16. Our dates are extremely close together.

So 11/28 is likely your receipt date at CSC, not 12/16 which I assume is the date of your transfer notice. I think they make this vague on purpose, so people don't realize they can file a service request much sooner. 180 days since receipt at CSC, not date of transfer notice.

I didn't realize it was actually forwarded on that date until I had put in a service request. After which we got that the "we know its a hardship, blah blah blah, when we have resources, blah blah blah" reply that many have gotten now. Pretty much a boiler plate we'll get to it when we do response.

Hello guys, I am a CSC transferee too. I got a notification last night, stating that CSC already received my case and is now processing it.

My condolences. Welcome to Never Never Land.

Got my response back from CSC:

"Type of service requested:

-- Outside Normal Processing Times

The status of this service request is:

This notice acknowledges receipt of your status inquiry concerning your pending I-485 application. We recognize your interest in a final adjudication on your pending application and are aware of the difficulties caused by any delay in processing. The California Service Center is committed to processing this workload, and will be making every effort to adjudicate your case in an expeditious fashion as soon as available under our resource constraints."

What a cop out answer.... what a bunch of #######..:ranting: .... very teed of right now...

That's the identical response to the service request we put in for my wife. It basically means they've done absolute nothing but assume your case is in the pile somewhere and they will get to it eventually. I wonder how many months it has to be before they actually look to see if its lost or misplaced?

Contacted the USCIS today to try and put in a service request, got the brush off. But the guy on the other end did make something clear (at least it made sense to me) about the processing times at USCIS.

He said that because there is no official processing time for AOS from a family based visa, they go by the processing time at your local office. so if your case falls outside of processing time at say the San Francisco office then you can lodge a service request.

I want to know if this is true or was this just a brush off to not help me????

Now that would be very disappointing. Were the dates at least valid for now, and did you get to hang on to it until they issue the corrected one? You would hope they would at least quickly fix a mistake, but you'd think they could do a lot of things better to.

sorry for the late reply. the year for the issue date is 2017 and expiration is 2019. i can't keep the invalid card, as it is one of the requirements for the correction application. because of that, my husband and i have to make multiple trips to DMV since they cannot issue me a regular driver license yet. i only got a temporary one. hope you guys don't have to deal with that.

Congratulations on your wife's approval! I am happy  for you guys. The GC can be a major issue at times. I was in an interview where even though I told them I have an EAD which is renewed even if the GC was delayed they kept asking questions about the GC and dwelling on it like it's a matter of life and death. They wanted me to even assure them I won't come and ask them for sponsorship of the GC later in future. They asked why my DL was not permanent? You can imagine all this things that seems to be a deficiency of EAD may become marginal if the GC is delayed too long. I am sure CSC refused to acknowledge this facts. Am sure your wife will be able to find some jobs now and take a rest from VJ till 2014.

All da best and wish us that are waiting the very best too.
