AOS Transferrees' Thread

I applied for AOS 11/28/2011, and did my biometrics 1/06/2012. I have received my EAD already but regretfully did not apply for AP originally. My case was transferred to CSC 03/12/2012 and I have yet to hear anything. My mom is getting married at the end of October this year and I'm terrified I won't be able to travel by then. It seems like there is no way to get any information, and even if you do it is completely unreliable, it is so upsetting to me. I am going to send in my AP application tomorrow, I'm really kicking myself for not doing it originally but I didn't think I would need it and then this wedding came as a last minute sort of thing. Could contacting my congressman help?

You could contact them, I'm not so sure its helping though, but it can't hurt. And at least your congressman would be aware of how screwed up the system is now. Doesn't hurt getting the AP application in. That should get to you with plenty of time. I don't understand why you were transferred so late in the process, almost 5 months later. We applied 11-22 and were transferred 12-16-2011. Still on the waiting game though.

Congrats. Looks you mailed one day before us, hope we're soon notified to. Enjoy your time out of the waiting game for a while.

Thanks, I hope yours is in the same dusty box that they just dug mine out of... Can't be too much longer now.

Hi All,

I'm creating this thread because I feel there are others out there in a similar situation and who can also use the comfort of the support of others.

So please use this space to tell us your story since your case was transferred.

I'll start with my self for example.

My wife and I filed AOS/EAD/AP in February, of which the EAD and AP have been approved and received. Our case was transferred to CSC in March 2012 and we are now waiting for our sign.

In the meantime we try to pass the time by watching movies, going out with friends, going to family gatherings, exploring local cuisine, etc.

We're in the process of going to have her name changed with the SSA and then the DMV. Hopefully we can have her driving in no time. She's also starting looking into universities to see what would be good for her. She's put up her resume and is actively speaking with recruiters who to narrow down job opportunities that suit our needs.

Basically lots of things are moving, but we're just really waiting for the AOS to be approved. That would really give her the the go ahead with respect to university admissions. We don't want to rush anything but, it would be nice to have this process done and behind us so that we can look onto the things beyond this administrative process.

I know its there are others who have been waiting longer and I mean for this thread to be a support for us all.

Please join us.

Thank you.

Chigs

Hi Ami&Chigs I am glad you started this thread. Was beginning to feel alone in the process. How does the dmv in your state operate with our spouses since they don't have their GC yet? Here in jersey they gave us the hardest time just to get a State ID all because my husband did not have his GC. We were a little turned off but it. Did they accept the EAD card?

my experience is probably worse. got my case transferred between December-January. AOS got approved but the expiration date and issue date are messed up. i returned the GC and now god knows it will probably take another three months to finally get the corrected one. would have been nice if you don't have to wait that long again for a mistake that you did not make but because someone in USCIS is not doing their job carefully.

Now that would be very disappointing. Were the dates at least valid for now, and did you get to hang on to it until they issue the corrected one? You would hope they would at least quickly fix a mistake, but you'd think they could do a lot of things better to.

Thanks. I'm still bitter about having to pay an extra $280, but oh well.

It's still better off paying for a fresh one because it saves you the adversity of another RFE. I paid $270 for mine when no civil surgeon will want to transcribe for me without repeating the physical test again.

I had to have a fresh one done, I didn't have a choice. USCIS lost mine and by the time I found out, my medical from Canada was over a year old.

Which is what truly sucks big time. Waiting longer, and having to pay for the privilege. :bonk:

Interesting... just received my welcome letter, sent by the CSC. I don't know if the rest of you already realized this but pay close attention to your transfer date- the date used to determine whether or not you're outside normal processing times or not and thus eligible to file a service request. It is NOT the date of the transfer notice, but the receipt date right above that on the transfer notice. The CSC starts counting the days from their receipt of the file from the NBC, so the date of the transfer notice is irrelevant.

I was confused about this before as I received my transfer notice from the NBC dated 12/19/11, but the receipt date was 11/25/11, even before my NOA date (11/28/11). So as it turns out my file was transferred immediately, although the transfer notice came almost a month later. Also, it's interesting that the CSC congressional unit lied to the congressman who inquired on my behalf about 5 months into the process, saying that they received my file 12/23/11, which was actually the last and only "touch" that I had before the approval.

Congrats. You've got the same receive date as us. When did your congressman contact them? I'm considering getting ours involved now that we got a "we're busy response" to our service request. Just wondering if you thought it did any good at this stage or not.

I definitely don't think you have anything to lose by contacting a congressman or filing another service request. I filed another service request the same day I got that nonsense reply to the previous one, and I had also contacted a senator a few days prior to that. (I had already contacted the local congressman at around 5 months, late April I think) Plus, I had sent an email follow-up to the first service request since I hadn't received their letter within 15 days. Of course we'll never know what actually happened, but the CSC would've received the senator's inquiry a couple of days before they approved me. I figure if they don't "have the resources" to approve my case in time, I am being deprived of something that I am entitled to, and they will hear from me and are legally bound to find the resources to respond to my service requests and inquiries on my behalf.

Not that it really matters at this point but what was 11/25/11 your receipt date at the CSC? Or NBC?

Did your online status change?

Yes, when they made the decision June 6. And three times since then.
