When I went in with my I-94 they said it had to have 60 days before expiration to be valid for their use. Which wasn't going to happen because I was told to wait at least 30 for my SSN which I also needed for the license. Hoping my EAD/AP card will work. The site now says that my EAD card is in production and my AP was approved!! Here's to hoping I get it before my scheduled tip in 26 days!!

Thanks guys! I appreciate everything!

Hey Xena, here in WV I needed my SSN and EAD to get my learner's permit since I don't know how to drive. I tried once I arrived here but they needed either the GC or some other document from immigration so they denied it to me, you should call their toll-free # or go to their website and check what are all the rules. I did that and had no problem this time, has been almost a week.

@Sunny, Congratulations! Hope we all get green soon!

On our side here, Monday I was able to call USCIS and put a service request on my AOS. The guy told me to wait 15 days to hear a decision, I really hope he is right. lol Since we are going on vacation this week, I am not really worried because I just want to go to the beach! hahaha... If it helps anyone, I was past the 6 months mark and when I previously called USCIS they told me on what specific date the local office that was handling my application was working on (after it was transferred to CSC) and when I could put a service request on it. I will give at least one more month until I contact my Congressman if I don't hear anything, getting tired of waiting for this though. I would really like to go visit my parents back home but I don't trust using the AP since its no guarantee at the airport. I'm sort of paranoid with this stuff lol Anyway, I hope everybody hear good news soon and good lucky everyone!

It won't be a decision in 15 days, you will get a reply within 15 days and it'll be something like this...

"Thank you for your inquiry. We will pull your file for review. You should receive a follow up notice within 45 days indicating the result of our review."

I got that notification too but it was a lie.

Or you will get the other version which reads like this:

This notice acknowledges receipt of your status inquiry concerning your pending I-485 application. We recognize your interest in a final adjudication on your pending application and are aware of the difficulties caused by any delay in processing. The California Service Center is committed to processing this workload, and will be making every effort to adjudicate your case in an expeditious fashion as soon as available under our resource constraints."

Either way it doesn't seem to help that much. Myself and others have found that what works is getting your senator involved, once your case has been at CSC for 6 months.

Received a text a few mins ago, saying my case was updated, and then received an email, saying:

On August 2, 2012, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283. This step applies to applications that result in an applicant receiving a card (such as a "green card") or other document (such as a naturalization certificate, employment authorization document, travel document, or advance parole). Applications will be in this step from the time the order to produce the card/document is given until the card/document is produced and mailed to the applicant. You can expect to receive your card/document within 30 days of the approval of your application.

So Happy to have received this. Good luck to everyone else waiting on news like this.

Glad some of these starting to get taken care of.

We contacted another congressperson, who was not our rep, but their office offered to help us regardless. Still waiting for something. Who knows. 2 reps and 1 senator. Maybe someone will get on our case.

Haha, me too. I checked my file again online and still hasn't been touched since February. I'm starting to think maybe they lost it. Good luck with yours! Let me know if you get a response. I'll update here as well.

Wait...I just noticed your office is Memphis...just wondering if you used Bob Corker (I'm not sure if you are in Tennessee or not). That's who I used. It seemed promising, but I haven't heard back from their office since Monday.

I'm near the edge where Blackburn and Cohen's districts meet; just inside Blackburn's. Her office ignored my request.

Contacted Alexander's office, they told me that I needed to wait longer. (Already 180 days past transfer....ok?)

Contacted Cohen's office, and even though not in his area, they seemed the most helpful.

I hope you get a response soon. I contacted Chuck Fleishmann who is our congressman. He responded to me by email:

One of the most important responsibilities I have as your representative is to help you with the often confusing process of navigating the federal government. My staff and I are here to help in any way we can. While I can't override a decision made by a federal agency, I can help you get answers to questions you have, help find solutions, or just cut through bureaucratic red tape.

Before I can get to work, you will need to fill out the enclosed form and mail it to the district office closest to you. This form gives me permission to work on your behalf according to the Privacy Act of 1974. Please provide as much information about your situation as you can, including any related correspondence, so that I can be an effective advocate for you.

If you have any questions, please contact Trish Mullins in my Chattanooga office at 423-756-2342. My staff and I will begin working on your case as soon as we receive all the necessary information. I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

I sent them the release but haven't heard anything from them since this correspondence. I guess I'm glad I didn't ask for Lamar's assistance! Corker was our mayor though before he became senator so I thought I'd try him out. They responded the next day with a phone call and telling me to call them with any questions along the way. It could be they are getting the runaround just like we are. I'm waiting for my standard "we're working hard on your case and will update you when we're done so tell your constituents to chill" response from the USCIS. I just hope we don't have to drive out to Memphis for an interview (6 hour drive on a good day for us).

Probably in the same pile as mine, in a box at the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard'.

Mine was transferred on Jan 3rd and touched on 29th March.
