Contacted USCIS and submitted a service request, which they only took once I told them I was already in contact with my Congressman. Got the typical "wait for 30-45 days" for and answer from USCIS.

Our 30 to 45 days from the congressional aid inquiry lead to my wife getting her green card in 6 days. Our service request got the standard we're busy but we'll get to it someday form letter.

I was looking at the trend lines for CSC and it seems like the number of i485 (adjustment of status) cases in a pending status has sky rocketed over the last 6 months, not a good sign.

See the following: http://dashboard.usc...e=2&charttype=1

I wish someone can do something to it to change the trend. If not it ll keep rising until they wouldn't be able to handle it no more  .

If you look at the charts, California has been processing a lot less applications per month than they were in 2010 or 2011. While at the same time it appears in coming applications has increased. At this rate of backlog growth, most people sent to California are going to be waiting over a year for a green card by years end, unless they put more people on AOS applications. I hope someone in charge there reorganizes something soon for those applying or soon to apply.

I sure hope it's not a year before approval! We're waiting on my husband's GC so he can work...and personally I'd rather he work than cook! :) I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but not really expecting too much.

It is an election year after-all (probably pushing through Citizenship visas as priority).

Oh yeah, the 180 days thing applies from the date the transfer your case, not the initial filing date.

We filed in December and transferred in late January.

Total elapsed time between filing I-129F to GC in hand 569 days or 1 Year, 6 months, 22 days.

Looking at the trends of other types of applications there has been a huge increase in the number of EAD application receipts and completions. I wonder if CSC are focussing on getting these cleared as a priority.

This is terrible. I am going to say now that even a congressional courtesy inquiry is useless; there are just too many pending applications.

But do the math on how many AOS applications are in house waiting now, and how many they're doing.

22,884 waiting, and yet they are not even doing 2000 per month.

http://dashboard.uscis.gov/index.cfm?formtype=9&office=2&charttype=1

March 1600, highest amount in a year

April 1239

May 1340

They would need to be completing at least 2000 per month to get all the AOS apps done in a year, and they are not doing close to that. They would need to be doing 4000 per month to get back to a 6 month time frame for completions, and it would take a year to get there. Put your mouse on the pending line dots and you can see more that the back log is growing by over 2000 per month. Every month since September 2011 they have failed to keep up and rather than increasing completions, they have reduced numbers of completions.

At least you're not applying right now! I feel so sorry for those just sending in if that trend has continued through this summer. I don't know who the USCIS reports to, but someone has to get them to get things back in line. They raised all the fees a lot a few years ago to speed things up and put all the costs on those using the service. Now we have huge fees and a process thats getting longer than it used to be. Where's that money going? My guess is its going into the general fund and not coming back to hire enough people.

I could have lived without knowing how abysmal the current situation is at CSC regarding the I-485 processing. Good lord, that pending applications indication looks so scary.

I worry what would this mean for people who filed and have had their circumstances changed (involuntarily).

For example, you file your AOS with supporting medical history based on the K1 VISA. Now, if this adjudication process endures longer than the 1 yr validity of the medical history record, what do you do then?

I had to go through such an issue for my own US citizenship. My parents filed for me as a dependent18, yet my interview date with my parents was AFTER i turned 18. Its $H!T like this that grinds my gears!

If the medical was within a year when the NOA1 was received, then it stays good. Aging out has its own set of rules, that I honestly have no knowledge of. We waited just short of 8 months for my wife's green card. I thought that was bad, but from the charts things are looking to get a lot worse unless they put more people on AOS cases. But they've dug such a huge hole right now, where do they plan to steal the workers from?
