the same as the title - me and my fiancee are going through a rough patch, and im sure its down to the stress this visa is taking.

is this a normal thing, and is there the light at the end of the tunnel?

My boyfriend and I haven't even begun applying for a visa yet (he's about to submit paperwork for the E-2) ... but we've definitely gone through a few months of at least one fight a week. Like a few people below have said, the "what ifs" and not knowing what is going to happen has been SO stressful for us. Him coming back and forth every few months is getting really old really fast. We JUST get comfortable and happy and in a routine and then he has to pick up and leave again. =( There's probably been at least a handful of times we could have broken up (and almost really did once after a pretty bad fight) but one thing he always told me was "anything is possible" ... so that sort of stuck with us and we've been fighting for each other ever since. I guess when you really love someone, you'll do whatever it takes to make it work. =)

It happens. I wouldn't say it's normal just because of the visa. I've been around long enought to see people like yourself (NOA1 for K1) go from excited, to bored, to cheating, divorcing, bailing out, whatever.....

It happens. But those things happen to people who marry the boy next door.

Best advice I can give you is stop stressing. You'll get your visa but you can't micro manage it. It will happen "someday" and fretting each day away, obsessing over timelines, and wanting to know exactly when, is wasting your positive energy. Just carry on with your life, and let the visa happen in it's own time. You can't control it so don't let it control you either.

I think it’s just normal but if it continues for long long periods your in trouble. Most people on this forum have rarely spent a large amount of time with the fiancé’ and in some cases were never living together in the same place at any time. So your relationship has not changed in any way since you started the visa process. You still Skype, you still have a crazy phone bill, you still say good night while the other is on way to work.

Looking at your timeline your at a similar stage to us. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to move in the next 3 months. Your in a good place. What would you have given to be here last year?

One thing that has always kept me sane throughout the whole visa process is when I first started researching K1 I went on to Wikipedia and read this statistic...

“The great majority of K-1 visas applied for are granted. In 2009, 95 percent of the K-1 visa applications were approved: out of 29,127 K-1 visas applied for, 27,678 were issued, and 1,449 refused, and 1,266 were waived/overcome.”

I have yet to see anybody from the UK fail to get a visa. You basically have to be dumb to #### this up. The visa will come. Remember why you fell in love and how you fell in love in the first place. All is going to be ok.
