Good luck with the AC. I'm the same and hubs doesn't deal well. He would rather TURN OFF the air and walk around naked then have the air on. Ummm, excuse me, I'm NOT going to walk around naked 24/7. And I'm sure as hell not going to make our guests take of their shoes AND clothing at the door. :bonk:

OMG u r killing me Kazulie. Well the air is staying on. And the. Ceiling fan dang it.

Hmmmm better get some extra sheets for wraps huh. Hehe

When he tries to "negotiate" every price that is clearly marked on merchandise, candy bars, cab rides...etc. There are no concrete prices in Nigeria! :bonk:

My husband prefers a fleece blanket because it is light weight and he can stay wrapped up in it the entire time I am staying cool with the airconditioner and fans in Nigeria! Hey, I'm not being mean!...I'm just trying to get him prepared for the states!

It's all bush meat to them

I hate it when we pass a dead deer on the side of the road and he says, "we would have already picked that up, brought it home and would be eating it by now in Nigeria". Ew.

You know your husband is African when you tell him countless times to shut the screen door on the deck so the cats won't get outside. "shut the door babe"..."shut the screen door hon"..."honey, I've told you how many times to make sure you shut the screen door because of the cats." My husband..."They'll be fine...they'll find their way around ~ let them roam, they're animals, they'll figure it out." Ummmmm, nooooooooooooooo :blink: Me (a gazillion times, lol) "they've never been outside honey, they're not outside cats, they just aren't and they've never stepped foot outside (other than to go to the vet, and I won't even share what I go through trying to get them in the crate :ranting::girlwerewolf2xn:). Low and behold....the door is left open one morning before work, I'm busy getting ready and I hear this "horrible" sound (almost like a child "crying" terribly)...it's our cat, lol, who went outside on the deck, jumped off, and was having a complete and total spaz fit because he just didn't understand and was too afraid to jump back up on the deck and come back inside (poor kitty.... :( ) I guess the outside world is a pretty scary place :help: I ran outside to get him, lol. "shut the door, hon" lolol, you're not in Africa anymore............ :hehe::blush::content: sigh.............

Your husband sounds like mine...very hard headed!!! Doesn't listen to a thing I say until something bad happens because he didn't listen to a thing I said! THEN he learns his lesson!!!

I'm surprised your husband doesn't freak out about the cats. My husband is soooo weirded out by the fact that we have cats as pets. Lol he thinks they are scary and not meant for pets.

Of course, maybe that's why your husband keeps leaving the door open!?!?!?!

By the way, ladies....my husband has been in the States for over 6 years, and he's STILL doing all the things you guys are posting in this thread. ( with the exception of the bowls and buckets in the shower. But he only JUST stopped that 2 years ago!). So don't think that all these wonderful habits will be going away any time soon! :bonk:

That's true...they do think it strange to have animals "in the house" and to top it off...that they're not "outside" animals....they probably think what the???? I remember speaking with Ben on the phone one evening while he was still in Kenya, and I heard dogs barking in the background. I said "Honey, why is that dog barking so much?" He said, "They do that all the time, especially at night...they're only dogs." Only dogs????? :o NOW, he sees why I asked that question and sees why I could not believe he said "only dogs", lolol. Our dog and him are best buddies, and he said to me a long time ago after coming home that now he understands human/dog companionship...and the unconditional love and joy they bring to us. He walks the dog, feeds the dog, lays in bed with the dog, lol. It's a beautiful thing...

It also reminds me of when I was in Kenya, and I'd see dogs all over...even puppies. :(:( Omggggggg, I can't even tell you how much I wanted to go to the store and buy huge bags of dog food and just dump it in the area that I saw them hanging around. I also wanted to grab that puppy and bring him home...it really broke my heart. Could you imagine the looks I would have gotten (even from Ben at the time, lol) if I fed the dogs while all the people around were hungry too?? Oh my.....

Joseph still has some issues with dogs. I have a neary 20 yo cattle dog and a 12ish dog with retardation. The first days he didn't even want to be in the same room. He is ok with mine now but the other day we went out to pick up some grapefruit ( which he calls grapes because I can't get him to understand that it is one word ) and the lady there ( 94 ) has 2 little dogs almost as old as her ( and probably older in dog years) It is funny to see a 200 pound mind avoid a 2 pound nearly blind dog. When he was little some dogs killed a playmate in front of him so his grandfather ( the king) ordered all dogs in the village killed , so to this day there are none.

:crying: Omggggg, that's terrible! (about the dogs killing Joseph's playmate and the village dogs all being killed). Ouchhhhhh, that really hurt to read. I actually just tried to research that, but could not find anything. Wow, that's very sad. They definitely do look at all animals differently...not just cats and dogs.

Nigerian kings are for areas made of of a couple of villages, kind of like counties here. I find the whole structure interesting because it replaces the mayor and city council here. I have chickens ( for the best eggs ever ) and he keeps wanting to stick them in the stewpot. I tried explaining to him that eating chickens are under a year and layers are older than that. Last night I had the fan running and he was complaining he was cold , however he refuses to use blankets except coldest part of the year.

Yes, it's definitely interesting how other country's rule their "kingdom", lol...without a doubt. I laughed out loud at my desk when I read, "he keeps wanting to stick them in the stewpot" :P He sounds like such a stinker, lol ^_^ You're fortunate to have the space to have chickens...omg, I would "love" that...to be able to have my own eggs; and yes, I know they are way better than the grocery store eggs. My friend has quite a few chickens, and she said that the eggs are so good you almost don't need to add butter to the pan, lol. Oh, and one more thing...I told Ben last night about how your husband chopped down all your little trees with his machete, and also about the bucket and mixing bowl sitting the shower...he busted out laughing, lol. He said he completely understands! :D
