Question about I-134

Hello everybody... I have a question about point 11 of I-134. It asks if either the USC intend or don't intend to support the person in point 3. In our case, my fiance... K-1 process...

The example here leaves the "intend" & "do not intend" choices unmark and has this note as an explanation "N/A ( K1 visa process for permanent residence)"

To me, it doesn't make sense to fill it this way, but in reality it doesn’t matter if it makes sense to me or not.

Please give me some feed back if this the way that everybody/most have filled it and if it worked this way?

Thanks,

I didn't check either of them, instead I followed exactly what was written on the example form.

I think the reason I checked intend was because I was advised to by others who had their interviews in London.

You could try asking in the regional forums to see what other people at the Venezuela embassy did.

I've had trouble with example form's way of putting it too. To me, it would make more sense to check 'intend', THEN, write in the box what the example form has. Technically, most people would intend to support their future spouse, but referring to the instructions of the text box if 'intend' is checked, 'N/A (K-1 process for permanent residence)' would be appropriate because the support would be continuous and indefinite, and I-134 is not exclusive to K-1. It seems people have put different things that did not bring about any concerns.

The I-134 was not created with K-1 visas in mind. Its purpose was really for those that would be temporarily in the US. Not for those that would be staying, adjusting status and becoming permanent residents. Question 11 makes more sense for those being sponsored on a temporary basis. That is why N/A - "K-1 visa process for permanent residence" makes sense in the case of a K-1 applicant. If it makes you feel better, check 'Intend' and then put "K-1 visa process for permanent residence" on the line.
