Last week, me and the husband found out that I'm 11 weeks pregnant, after more than 4 years of trying. Without a doubt, I would say that this is the best news we've received since we got married. But at the same time, I can't help but be worried, due to our financial situation right now. I don't know if it's right to say, but I feel like this blessing came at the wrong time. It sounds conflicting, right? Blessing at the wrong time? I have been unemployed for about 6 months now. My husband is working but doesn't have insurance. I did have insurance while I was still working as a CNA. We moved from Texas to Florida and haven't had luck finding a job since then. Now, before anyone judges me, let me tell you that I don't like mooching off other people, or the government for that matter. My husband and I have always struggled financially and have experienced worse times, such as being both laid off 2 years ago and neither of us had a job for like 3 months. But instead of filing for unemployment or food stamp, or whatever there is that the government could have aided us, we lived with the money we had been saving from our income. You might call that prideful or stupid, but that's just how we are. Right now is a different case though. There's another life we have to care about other than just ourselves. I desperately want to get the care I need as soon as I can. Because of this, I've started wondering if Medicaid can help me. If you know other ways that are at least affordable, please do share. But as for medicaid, I don't know if I'll qualify. I've been here in the US for 5 years (this year is my 5th month)but not a citizen yet.
