hi, i'm from leyte. and i did get my passport from the dfa office in tacloban city. it is true that getting a voter's id could take months. but...in case you need it for something like getting a passport...the municipal office of the comelec can give you a copy of the voter's registration, and this can replace the voter's id. voter's id is a card, just like any other id's with picture and signature.while a voter's registration records are papers with thumb marks on it and demographical information of the person, signifying you registered as a voter.nbi clearance was also needed as i can remember. so, basically dfa only needs 2 valid id's. try, getting sss card. the processing is fast. you just need to be early as the que in social security office for getting sss id's is long.

   This is great to know...

My fiancee just got her passport about 4 months ago in Lucena, which is 3hours south of Manila. She had her Postal ID, birth Certificate and NBI CLearance. They accepted that and told her she needed 1 more document and my fiancee informed them she was getting baptised that following weekend. They said they would process the Passport and required her to bring her baptismal cert when she picked up herpassport. SHe showed them her baptismal and she received her passport. I'm sure its all a little different at different locations as that is the case in the Philippines, flavor of the day...

Postal ID does not take 1 year, you can get it on the spot. It can be had with a little extra cash with whatever name you want on it. I'm not saying to do that, jsut stating that its very easy to come by.. Just need to calm her down and have her actually try and get her Postal ID and not listen to some girl behind a counter telling her it takes a year to get. SHe will need her NBI clearance and Birth Certificate to get her Postal ID. Might take a few days, week, on the spot, you never know when dealing with these things in the Phils...

   ...and so is this!

My fiancee got her passport at DFA Manila last December 2011. Guess what? The only ID she presented is an old college ID and they accepted it. No questions asked. She just gave her school id ( eventhough she is not a student anymore, she graduated 3 years ago from college) and birth certificate from NSO. She brought NBI clearance, transcript of records from school, baptismal but they didnt bother to asked for those documents.

Thanks for these responses. Acording to posts on the internet the Postal ID is no longer acceptable. they say it takes over a year to get an SSS ID. At the comlec Joybel was told that it takes at least a year to get a voter's ID. Is that the same as the voter's registration record????? I am confused and the phils DFA website does not give a list of acceptable ID's. I don't know what to tell her to do and I am very worried. It is difficult for me to understand. She has the birth certificate, police report, nba clearance, etc. She has been sent away from the DFA two times already. We are both sad and confused.

ha? ur fiacee told you that???. i used my postal id when i am getting my passport, it only last march 2012.

my appointment for my daughters passport is on may 17 same with my sis and yes DFA manila doesnt take postal ID as valid id but supporting doc my friend danica has same sentiments like yours she was denied to have passport she have postal ID NBI clearance birth cert baptismal marriage cert and school id but they asked for her transcript record :)and it took 1 month for her to have it.. as what dfa told me if you have at least one valid id from what stated in their site and nbi clearance then your good to go she can go to COMELEC manila and ask for record that she is registered :) or get a driver license from LTO student permit is valid id and its easy to get one :)

I have mine processed by a travel agency as they have some sort intended windows in dfa. They asked me to show two valid id, got sss and work id, I met travel agency staff to assist me in dfa since they required physical appearance. I didn't have to go thru the lines. I paid 1000 pesos and got it within 2 weeks.

Hello Adiian...how long did it take you to get the SSS ID? Thanks

Joybel get turned away again today by the dfa in Manila. This is her third try. She has postal ID, voter's registration, NBI, birth certificate, police certificate, and school transcripts. They are telling her that she has to have the SSS or Voter's ID.

We are confused because the people commenting on this site seem to not have this kind of trouble. Joybel was told that the SSS and Voter's ID's take a long time to get.

Thanks

Hello Adiiann, what travel service did you use? Thanks

She has postal ID, voter's registration, NBI, birth certificate, police certificate, and school transcripts.

I'm not sure why she's having trouble getting a passport. With all of that ID, she should have no problem. Maybe the guy at DFA was hungry and needed a "snack." ;)

A reputable travel agency can get her a passport...no problem.

Hi. I got my sss card right away when I applied, did it in QC too. As for travel agency, I can't remember the name anymore as its the travel agency used by the company I worked before. But they're located in Makati City. But you can search travel agency on the location, there's a lot. Sorry, I wish I can be more helpful.

Wow. Thats odd, I remembered I went to sss office and applied for sss number, they gave me pink paper copy and then by afternoon, I hand over an id picture, they laminated the id, and got the card same day. That was 2004 when I started to work.

You can apply online for a birth certificate. We got ours in about 12 days. It only took that long because my fiance was born out in the province, and they had to manually search for her record. That is issued by the same people who issue the Cenomar, and I would think that would be enough, with a photo ID (like a Postal ID) for her to get NBI clearance. With those three things, I would think she could get a passport.

That's where I ordered my fiance's birth certificate. Did it right online, so easy. Then had to go to BDO I think to pay the bill, once it was paid, it arrived 12 days later.

Maybe that will help.
