125% of poverty line, co-sponsors, and being a student

My fiancee and I are having a disagreement. I am understanding that as long as I make 125% of the poverty line, then we are good to go, whether I am working full time or part time, in schiool or not. She thinks that even though I am making 125% of the poverty line, because its part time and I am in school, we still need a cosponsor. Is she right, or am I right?

Thanks.

If you earn enough for your household size, it does not matter how many hours it takes you to earn it, or if you also are in school while earning it. Income that is at 125% of the poverty level or higher is all you need to meet the requirements.

Income is income. As long as you are $1 over, you are good to go.

   Stable legal means of supporting yourself and household size without welfare is the only concern.

your fiancee really wants to be with you.she's covering all worst possible things to happen. i'm sure you're good to go. for insurance purposes...if there's someone willing to be a co-sponsor, it does not hurt to have a back up. just my two cents.

She is saying that the commissions I would earn from working would not count toward the 125%. She said it needs to be a fixed income and commissions do not matter. Is this true? I find it hard to believe.

There is no rule on income fluctuation. We aren't all making fixed annual salaries. Hourly employees don't make a fixed income either, but if they can show they can make more than the 125% in a year, they qualify. No, commission should not be a problem. Ask her where she is learning these things and guide her over to VJ.
